What current fighters do you consider first ballot guys when their careers end (if they ended suddenly today with no future fights)?

    Just curious.

If so, definitely not before Hearns and not before the equally overdue pair of Curry & Archer.

Maybe down the road, not in first year of eligibility though.

I actually believe DM probably is going to get in this time.

My guess would be Hearns, DM, Hamed, Roach, and Buffer get in.

Perhaps he should with consideration. He wasn't just a euro champ he was a legitimate world champion atleast until jones beat johnson with ease because by then it was clear that jones had overtook dm.

With hindsight the fight between dm and jones not happening hurts dm far more and this exemplifies why: jones won't even be debated for the hof, he'll be a lock. Despite beating hill, dm managed to lose all his belts and never again unified whilst jones at the very same time was unifying with everyone but dm. A win over jones makes dm probably the greatest lhw since spinks but instead we'll see history remember jones as that man.

The boxing hall of fame is rather liberal. One day I think DM will make it. While he was not the best fighter ( not even top 15 ATG great at light heavy ) , he was a very consistent gritty fighter who made many title defenses, and was in some wars.

I think it should be hearns, jackson and curry.

Hamed and dm will remain until we have a slightly weaker year imho.

Regarding dm you just have to ask the question "did he fight the best of his era" if the answer is yes then it's a no brainer really.

Obviously some of us have a different opinion on what makes a great resume.

No, it means you aren´t worth my time. :good

Not quite since you got the context wrong - on Hill and the first Rocchigiani fight that´s all I critizised - at least you admitted that you were wrong about Hill. Props to you for that. :thumbsup

You guy think Curry, Archer and Jackson deserve to go in before Cefeino Garcia? I don´t think so.

Question to you: in you opinion, does Jones unifying actually mean anything when the belts he was unifying never were lost in the ring and their actual owner was still active and unbeaten?

Yeah go 98 and 99 jones opposition level was significantly higher than dm's imo.

It's hard calling dm anything but a paper champ after them 2 years. At the turn of the millennium the opponent level was fairly even but I think it's fair to say jones fought significantly better opponents from 98-99.

Regarding curry there can't be many unified champions that haven't made the hall. I think for a short while he was out of this world and film backs up that claim imo.

Jackson doesn't have as strong a case but I wouldn't be surprised.

That was not my question. My question was if Jones picking up belts that DM was stripped of and never lost means anything.

That wasn´t my question either. Curry deserves it definitly but does he deserve it more than Garcia?

Yes it has meaning. I believe the man makes the belt and not the other way round (certainly more so in the post 80's alphabet soup)

My knowledge on garcia is limited to "the guy that armstrong should have beat" if he gets inducted i'll research him more.

All the ballots must be in by the end of the month, so who are your top 10, and out of them, which 3 do you think should be voted in.

I still haven't sent mind in yet!

Very borderline case. If he gets in, then a lot of people should.
