I think Quigg would knock him out, Munroe has looked like dog sh!t in his last 2 fights and I was horrified after his last fight (a 10 round snoozefest of a decision against some hairy journeyman) he blew smoke up his own arse by declaring it was a "world class performance against a world class opponent" I hope Quigg or Frampton knock him out next.
Quigg definitely wins a UD for me but no way IMO does he knock Rendall out...If Nishioka cant do it then no way can Quigg. Munroe i feel is slightly over the hill after that beating off Nishioka, he really did look **** poor in his last outing but he is still durable and has a good chin. Rendalls style is awful on the eye.
It might not have been pretty, but he won every round, and won them comfortably from what I remember. Not exactly "dog ****".
Quigg i believe is far better technically, I feel Rendall's last few displays have been him trying to show people he's above the level by coasting but his stock has dropped IMO. Some liked what he showed but at same time if he should be able to step the levels up and stop his man IMO. Anyways Rendall's always enjoyed bullying fighters at SBW due to his size and i think the fact Quigg is a big fighter himself i think he will struggle to bully and his arrum punches would be bettered by consistent and precise and the more classier work from Quigg. I believe Quigg would win in a entertaining battle via a UD. He'd not fear the power and do the right things against a Southpaw. It wouldn't be totally one sided we must remember Quigg's a work in progress. Rendall should of went full time when he had the chance, Sadly playing the likely lad has backfired IMHO.
I agree with your last point about him going full time when he could have but was the money he was earning not good enough to see him through...:think I would like to think that he is financially secure from boxing, house bought etc, I would not have expected him to be a high roller in terms of paydays...:think
In his fights since Nishioka, Munroe has been trying to out box his opponents rather than his usual pressure fighting. I think he feels to stand a chance in a rematch with Nishioka (or at world level) he needs to be a little bit more cute and has been trying a few things out. Obviously with the performances he hasn't looked great but has been able to win at a canter. I think in a fight with Quigg he would revert to his usual style of fighting. This would make for a very interesting contest and one which Rendall has a good chance of winning. We don't yet know how good Quigg is but he would need to go to a new level to win this one.
Rendall Munroe has proven his class. Fringe world level. Lets be real he faced the no.1 in his division in Japan. Has Munroe been given the opportunity to fight Molitor he would be a world title holder right now. Quigg looks a quality talent. Its a tough fight for either. To say you expect Quigg to stop Munroe is simply ludicrous when you consider his only loss at the weight came to the No.1 in the world and he was competative in that fight. Munroe still has wins over Martinez, Mallatroudou who were top 15 in the world at the time and Terrezas who has gone on to prove his class. Quigg beat a shot Jason Booth who was coming off a 2/3 defeats and a bunch of jounreyman with padded records.....as talanted as he looks.
munroe is there for the taking,thought it was strange munroe not taking the chance to fight frampton in belfast.having watched his last performance i can see why.also maybe mcguigan knew or heard something about munroe because at that time and on paper munroe was a very tough fight for frampton.
I would be shocked if Quigg or Frampton beat Munroe. Think Rendall is a few levels above the pair of them. Maybe in 18 months time.
i dont get why people think he looked "dog****" in his last fight. it might not have been exciting but he pretty much won every round.
I think Quigg would win and win well. Munroe's another Booth in the sense half his punches are arm punches with no real quality. It's a quality puncher against a work horse and unless the work horse has exceptional attributes its not a good matchup. Quigg only has to land 1 good punch to 5 of Munroe's pointless flurries. Munroe's strength may or not be an issue depending on whether he imposes himself on the fight better than he did against the Jap
Munroe has looked horrible in both of his last fights, but that's because he hasn't had any adversity in either of them. He's always been the same. Lethargic for a few rounds, then steps in and starts to work the body and up his workrate. When he gets going against Quigg, it gets interesting. I'd favour Quigg to win it on points though. The Binman really has little to dissuade him with, but has the durability, size and engine to make it closer than it appears on paper. Remember, Nishioka didn't bulldoze him, he outboxed him late on, and even when he stepped in with sharp flurries and buzzed Munroe, he couldn't finish him. Quigg is straight-on and straight-up. He wouldn't pose the same problems. But I still think he looks to be good enough to punch out a hard-fought decision. Hope it happens. Munroe Vs Quigg/Frampton is a must-see.
The good thing is that Munroe and Quigg are with Hatton and Frampton fights on matchroom shows and they all fight exclusively on Sky. I'd imagine them fights should be easier to make and with Sky requesting Quigg to be ringside at Frampton-Quon and Frampton ringside at Quigg-Booth, we might see the two of them fight sooner than we think.
Good post but as I said, I think if those opponents had really troubl him he'd have stepped on the gas.
