Sauerland: Wants Kessler vs. Ward/Froch in 2012.

If Ward wins Kessler won't fight him. Kessler was in the ring that night he knows he got outclassed. No way this fight happens.

 

Fighters believe in them even if they lost against someone. Kessler had eyes problems before the Ward fight, had not enough sparring. These are good enough reasons for him to hope to win a rematch.

 

I'm sure Kessler's injury was real. It would be insane to duck Allan Green. :nut

Well he made an extraordinary deed by vacating the belt allowing the WBC to cash in some major sanctoining fees from the s6 fights.

Regarding the emeritus tag, I actually wrote the WBC asking why Kessler isn't mentioned as emeritus any more, given the fact that the tag, according to their rules, is for life.

At first they replied that they'd return with an answer shortly, but even though I had re-asked my question, they haven't replied.

It might be a good and fun idea if you, and anyone else with some interest on the matter, sent an e-mail to them asking the question.

 

Sauerland says Kessler-Stieglitz will be in April or May. He's still trying to secure a date with the television networks involved. That means Bute's next fight will be at the same time. I'm sad for Kessler but happy for Bute. That means that both Froch and Ward will be available for Bute, let's say, in May.

I'd be curious to see who Showtime would want Bute to face then. Bute's next fight falls right into the Kessler vs Stieglitz timeframe.

 

I don't care who wins but I don't want any rematch. :bart

Showtime will prefer Bute because when you can bring 3 belts to the ring, you should not wait another 6 months. One of the fighter could lose one or be stripped.

Will the winner want to face Bute right after the tournament? That's another story. At least, Bute has another top opponent available.

..........back on topic. I'd much prefer Kessler-Froch II than a deal with Ward, wherever that lands. Could happen in the fall, winter next year - not beforehand, with Kessler-Stieglitz happening around April.

 

That's correct, Kessler couldn't duck Green ; but to get to the top , instead of fighting Green + S6_semifinalist + S6_finalist he fights Boudhla + Stieglitz + S6_winner; that's why i was reffering in my last post to a plausible strategy
But i'm not a doctor, Kessler's got credibility, i am going with the general consent and agree the injury was legit
