At the the end of round 8 Taylor rocked Froch with an uppercut. The bell went and saved Froch's skin. When he went back to the corner Froch had to compose himself on the ropes. If there was 20 seconds more left in the round, Taylor would have stopped him.
Well he didn't and what happened after was special, Lets relive it again...:happy [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYcGdQdoUbc[/ame]
But it wasn't and he didn't. Froch is a 15 round fighter imho and that was the difference, he turned on the tempo when Taylor was blowing. A younger Taylor would of got the win though for sure.
Beat me to it with that line. Quality stoppage for me, look at the sheer grit from Froch. Top athlete that fella and a born winner.
So, if the rules in place were altered in a way that would've favoured Taylor, Taylor would've won. Right. I'm a big Jermain Taylor fan, more so than I am a Froch fan, but this sir, is a heinous thread.
:good Special stoppage IMO, One of the best most clinical stoppages in recent years. Froch was cold blooded in that round. He showed some really smart moves to tee up the right hand. He also worked the body which a lot of fighters forget to do when finishing. The commentary as well was top class, Unforgettable.
Its all shudda wudda coulda. Ifs buts and maybes. If McCloskey had been allowed to fight for 12 rounds he would have KTFO Khan. Everyone knows it. Cheated not defeated!
Yeah it's really striking just how cool he stays after he's hurt him and there's like 50 seconds left in the round. I'd be spazzing out and mashing RB haymakers if that was me in there.
i heard if the meldrick taylor - chavez jnr fight ended 20 seconds earlier, the result would have been different :think
Not really, I'm sure Taylor heard the 10 second bell and the ref may have even said stop at the bell. He also has the feel of 3 mins. If he had any intention of doing something big then he would have but he didn't. Plus Froch gets up if he was put down. Taylor probably tries to finish him in round 9 and gets ko'd quicker because he gasses and starts slugging.
That's got to be one of my favourite bits of commentary of recent years and certainly one of the best memories of watching a fight in the last few years as well. I think every single boxing fan who was watching this at the time woke up their entire street when Froch got the KO. Quality :thumbsup
I remember having forgotten all about it until I walked through the door absolutely steaming at about half 3 in the morning. Logs on ESB (as you do) and onto the RBR. ''Froch needs a KO in the 12th'' etc etc WTFFFFFFFFFFFF LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL OVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! A confused drunk then types ''did Froch win?''
If nothing else that final round in particular shows how horrendously flawed Froch is when he's trying to go after his man, he barely even throws a proper punch. He was very fortunate that Taylor has made gassing to such a large extent his custom over the years, because his work over the course of the fight wasn't even that good where it would've happened anyways.
