Frankie's pulled out of tomorrows fight!

Still, promoter Frank ****** is on a salvage mission after Gavin’s withdrawal and with matchmaker Dean Powell at the WBO convention in Puerto Rico, they have been caught on the hop.


“He’s just gone,” said ****** of Gavin. “I heard he went to Anthony Farnell’s house. I’m sick and tired of it. I wouldn’t even talk him into fighting because if I did and something happened it would be my fault.


“We’ve done all the publicity, he was on Bunce’s show on Monday night, Ron Lewis did the bit on him in The Times today. It’s total madness. Between him and Kevin Mitchell… I said to Jimmy Tibbs, what do you put in the water down there. It’s things like this where boxing really doesn’t help itself.”

I do think its a bit out of order at last minute notice for the people who bought tickets. However, im sure the reason why is because he was trying to go ahead with it regardless before realising he wasnt in the right mind/shape and didnt want to risk his career which is hardly unfair. End of the day if he doesnt achieve what hes capable of then hell be more annoyed than we will be on here making "what if" threads. Hope he sorts it out seems like a sound guy

Is it unfair to attribute any blame to the Tibb's? I know that they are excellent trainers, but i don't really know much about them. Are they tough taskmasters?

I know that Frankie has had troubles for a while but it seems quite coincidental that both Gavin and Mitchell have gone ****ing mental whilst training there.

Sorry if that seems unfair - like i say - i don't know the blokes.

 

Gavin went to Tibbs because of his personal problems. It's not like they developed there.

Frankie needs to sort his **** out. It's not like his personal problems started this morning. If he's not right, don't take the fight. I wish him all the best and hope he comes good but the kind of unprofessionalism he has been showing is worrying.

On the plus side, Byrne is getting another fight. Goes a year without getting a scrap and now he has two in two weeks! That's the mad world of boxing for ya.

 

What a **** up to pull out at the last minute. Life is all about expectation management and the sooner you figure that out the sooner you can get on with a productive life, and people can help you work towards your dreams.
Frankie hasn't helped himself here and I can see ole Fish eyes matching him hard in his next fight because of this to make up for his **** up.

Why is he around at Arnie's house, when he's supposedly moved to London to get his head straight ?
Why did he do the promo for the fight - including tv - this week, if he wasn't gonna fight ?
If the problems are so insurmountable don't ****in sign to fight then cry off.
How about some sympathy for the ticket paying punters ?
