Two possible outcomes: Dempsey early or Marciano late. I lean to the first one - remember I took Charles to beat Dempsey the ound before, so it´s not favouitism.

A no-brainer for me...Dempsey by early ko. Folks look at that left hook to the body.In rough quarters no fighter in history can cope with the fast catlike Dempsey. He was murder in close, and that was where Marciano fought. As Rocky winds up to throw his grenades,Dempsey beats him to the punch everytime, and even tough Marciano cannot survive a prime Dempsey onslaught. If Dempsey was to lose,it would be to a fleet footed boxer only...

Marciano, no questions asked. He'd survive Dempsey's early onslaught (seriously, you guys expect him to be blasted out early?) before bringing the fight to him and breaking him down for the latter rounds. Marciano TKO10.

Jack is basically a better version of rocky: slightly bigger, slightly faster, slightly more powerful etc.

The one advantage rocky has is conditioning but I think dempsey will win all the early rounds and will survive any late onslaught.

No, Rocky probably has an edge in power overall, and is probably just as strong or stronger. Dempsey is a LOT faster.

Don't know why people are selling Dempsey so short in the late rounds though. He did alright against Brennan there for example.

Quick question, Burt: who would you favor over Dempsey?

Marciano and in dominate fashion. I honestly don't get all the dempsey love sometimes. He doesn't have the calibur of fighters on his resume that leads me to believe he was one of the best of all time.

Such terrible logic, not to mention very questionable. I strongly disagree with it myself. Dempsey was a great talent, but Dempsey did have his flaws, which is why he struggled more than Marciano did, beat less calibre opposition, and ducked opposition unlike Marciano. I personally liked Rocky's fundamentals far more. Dempsey got wreckless and stupid many times while on the attack, carried his left hand too low at times, and was prone to getting hit with right hands(Marciano had an all time great right hand). I don't think Dempsey had any advantage in punching abilities, I think he had an advantage in footwork and speed, while Marciano had an advantage in strength and durability.

Close fight, Dempsey ain't stopping the Rock early. He better bring his lunch pale with him.

This matchup always brings out the stupidity (hypothetical match ups are stupid enough, we're all guilty).

When the hell was Dempsey relegated to early-threat-but-nothing-else status? The man could fight fifteen rounds, hard. He was essentially a quick, endurable swarmer/slugger hybrid, not a gasping, swinging ******.

And I don't know what makes people think Marciano would give up so easily. Early rounds knockout? Damn. I think toe-to-toe battles would be right up Rocky's street and he'd perform very well. Remember, he used to worm around, was awkward to hit cleanly, and came up with punches from strange angles. Powerful punches.

We're talking ten rounds here, at least.

Get the EMT's ready...someone is going to get hurt...talk about a PPV...I think that with a fight with these 2 greats...it's going to come down to survival of the fittest...and who was more fit then Rocky Marciano...this fight would not need a promo tour...it would sell itself..

Good Post, I can definitely see this fight going 15 rounds, I know some disagree with me.
