How could you not holding Dempsey turning down a fight with Sam Langford a criticism?

Because there were only two ways this was ever going to happen:

    1. A faded but dangerous Langford beating up on a young Dempsey.

    Or worse:

    2. A prime Dempsey beating up on a shell of Langford.

Neiter fight offers anything I want to see.

I think the possibility of A would have made it well worth it.

    Dempsey was fast.
Everyone who saw him in his prime noted his fast feet and fast punches.

Saying Dempsey wasn't fast is just stupid.

Yeah, but you're already wrong about Tyson and Frazier.

    Brain says Marciano,
    Heart says Marciano,
    Vote says Dempsey.

Rocky was harder to hurt than Dempsey, but hurt-able. Dempsey would probably give as good as he got but be worse for the wear and get stopped late.

I could see him stopping Rocky, too, but I don't see it happening.

But I ****ed up and voted for Dempsey, so he wins.

This factor has to weigh heavily upon a person's opinion when considering although alot seem to completely disragared it.

What about the inverse? Dempsey out of his prime beating Sharkey?

    + 1.

The boxer with the most legitimate claim for Dempsey ducking them isn't a black fighter, it's Greb.

He beat Sharkey because he hit him in the balls Andrew Golota style. Dempsey should have been disqualified.

No, not everyone. Jack O'Brien described him as "slow", and he was described as "slow but packing a punch" by the time of the Sharkey fight. There was serious concern about his speed in the build up to Tunney I aswell, although he seems to have turned that around...i'd bet that the O'Brien quote is from around that time too.

No, you've always been wrong on that. Do a poll, if I'm wrong classic is officially insane.

I'm leaving this poll open, it's too close. Looks like all the Dempsey fans came out of the woods

That makes it 17 to 17 in voting. Your brain and heart are right.

Your logic is so **** I don't even know where to begin.

Rocky had a better career but I suspect jack is just all round better.

Never said he's stopping him early neither. I suspect he survives a late onslaught to take it on points.
