Whoever said X was a big PPV draw? Most of his fights are on regular HBO. He's not a household name, so it's mostly hardcore boxing fans that follow him.

Everyone knew this fight should have been on regular HBO where it may have done ok ratings. It looks like HBO will lose their shirts on this and its their fault. Not only was this a bad ppv match up to begin with its right in the middle of Mayweather, Pac, and Cotto-Margarito ppvs.

Neither guy is a draw and 40,000 is really, really bad. Could truly care less though. I like watching both of them fight. The fact that they have skills makes them unique in this era of fighting.

What were they thinking putting that fight on PPV? I heard it was 60 bucks, surprised it even reached 40k for that price. $20-$30 is what it was worth. Hopkins was always going to fight a spoiling/ugly fight against a guy like Dawson, who he avoided for the longest.

These horrible numbers are part of the reason why there will be no rematch.

I can't believe 40 000 people bought that fight...boggles my mind. Hopkins is by the long shot the most aggravating fighter to watch, followed closely by Ward and Toney in heavyweight. He constantly pulls tiny dirty tricks and his ugly ass mug doesn't help the view either. Someone should tape a printout of a hot girl's ass and permanently stick it on his face when he fights.

I blame that **** on Gary Shaw. IMO, he worries only about his MMA deals he has goin' (I guess he still does, I don't know), and neglects a bit his boxers.....OR he just can't in the world of GBP and Top Rank and the serious strangle hold those 2 have over boxing media.

He is also the sole reason, IMO, Tim Bradley is not viewed as a much bigger star by a lot of fans, especially casual ones. Tim is ****in' bad ass, all kinds of skills, but no promoted the best.

I don't think it really will. I'd say most PPV buying fans (like me ) planned to buy the May PPV, skip Bernard's (haha), and buy Pac's fight (after about the right amount of time to had one's cable bills straightened out :p).

This is a pretty clear sign that there should not be a rematch. I thought the fight would struggle (and started a thread about it), but god damn, that's a terrible number.

Dawson should move on to Pascal and Hopkins should move on to retirement.
