Prime Tszyu or even a decent ref would have changed the outcome of that fight.

That was a UFC match. I have never seen so much mauling in my life. It was a HORRIBLE way to treat a great like Kostya and an even more horrible way for Hatton to make his bones. Weak.

Tszyu would have beaten Ricky if that crook DAVE PARIS wasn't ref, tszyu should of objected ....but johnnycake Lewis is one overrated old pensioner who knows ****....****** knew that.....

i would favour tszyu, but only slightly. he never really liked fighters who went right at him, lookk what happened when he went against vince phillips. hatton put on a great performaance that night, it was pretty ugly but the only way for him to beat kostya, who i believe still had a lot in the tank though was post prime. hatton was not a club fighter, they go nowhere near world titles even in this era. without all the drinking and weight gain he could have achieved more, but would have always fallen short against the likes of pac and pbf. anyways prime for prime a hungrier kostya doesn't fold and does enough to get the decision in a war.

I don't care if a fighter is dirty or not. The tactics allowed by the ref in that fight were crap.

Hopkins is dirty as hell, but I still don't think Dawson should win his belt by slamming him.

Which is why Ricky was exposed by Collazo as soon as he didnt have his hometown ref.

No one is trying to say Ricky was an ATG.His greatest acheivement for me was achieving what he did with such limited ability.I'd always go for Kostya and I know Ricky's tactics that night were very disagreeable.Just that on that night fan power played a big part and felt it would have made difference even on peak KT.Don't think for a minute Ricky could ever beat peak Kostya, just think there are some nights were circumstances and conditions play a part and maybe that night Ricky would have pushed peak KT a bit more than any other night. And well said to the person who said Kostya is near the top of the all time 140 list.

Kostya also said many times pre-fight he was not motivated for a Hatton fight. He really wanted Mayweather or Gatti and was frustrated not being able to get those fights. He was only fighting Hatton that night for the $5M payday and didn't treat him as a serious threat.

Yeah,Mayweather a couple years before or pre-injury really may have
changed the face of boxing today.Full respect to Gatti but I think Kostya
would have left him needing to be stretchered out.Feel bad saying anything negative about Gatti but it's how I really feel.:-((For Gatti)

Yep, glad that fight didn't eventuate. Gatti might have had some success early, as Tszyu was willing to fight a sluggers fight when he came up against them. But Tszyu with his power and skills, combined with Gatti's never-say-die heart and his chin, it would've likely been a long and brutal one-sided beatdown.

ok he was never elite but he was defiantly world class. everyone slates him because he was out classed by mayweather and destroyed by pac. but they are a different level to any fighter pound for pound! but comon do you guys not think hatton would still have ruled this current group of light welters? except for maybe kahn he still would be in the top 2 rankings. if any fighter on the top ten light welter list fought pac or mayweather they would suffer the same beatings. only difference is hatton had the balls to step up and make the fights happen. before the tszyu fight tszyu was considered a legend that was going to destroy hatton. then when hatton beats him tszyu was over the hill or wasn't that great in the first place. bull**** hatton was on fire and would have been to much and to non stop for kosta prime or any other time. he would have been able to go the distance but still loses. dont tell me hattons over rated when he put up a better fight against a prime mayweather than ortiz and mosley who are both a lot bigger and marquez who still ranked 7 pound for pound and was ranked 3 p4p at the time he fought mayweather.
