    Who's talking about office work?

Biggest sectors for deaths at work by far are construction and agriculture. You telling me that farmers or brickies should be allowed time off for free cause they've got personal problems?

About 3000 people killed on the roads every year. Very, very dangerous lark, driving. I take it Frankie's staying out of cars cause his head ain't in the right place?

There are many reasons why Frankie may not want to fight, being killed ain't one of them, or at least not a valid one. Anyways, the amount of premature stoppages we get in the UK makes the risk of even severe concussion unlikely. The worst he's likely to suffer is a fat lip.

You pays your money you takes your choice. You don't like being hit in the face for a living get an office job.

Is it ****ing really? Get off your high horse, you patronising twat. Ain't a man alive without problems and that's a fact. Frankie has a track record for this. It's time for him to **** or get off the pot, cause right now he's just another could have been.

    Agree with this

cant believe people on here saying its dangerous if youve got personal problems its ok to pull out and its not the same as any other job

My grandad had a little job in 1939-1945 it was abroad he had a couple of problems personal, being shot at , seeing his mates blown to bits ect, pretty sure he didnt come home and have some time off with his personal problems!

There are far harder more dangerous jobs in the world at this moment of time done by people with far bigger personal problems that would trade their problems in an instant for frankies job!

It might be an extreme example but its still true!

All speculation at the moment!!! Shame thIs has happened at a time when he was meant to be knuckling down, living the game and dropping his Funtime nickname! If this was any other boxer I think people would be a lot more understanding!

Unfortunately, just like the Olympics, Frankie's reputation precedes him

Give the lad a bit of respect and space to get himself sorted.

come of it gasman. this is a boxing forum. its what we talk about. if frankie has serious problems he wont be reading this forum so what does it matter.

every boxer in history would get slated for doing what frankies done until a very good reason is provided.

  6. I agree with mcguirpa here.

I like Frankie, he's a good lad (I can vouch for this) and has more talent in his little finger than most fighters can dream of..... but it's really time to knuckle down and sort his career out.

With the way his career is going he'll be past his best by the time he's anywhere near world level, which would be a real shame both for him and everyone connected with him.

There isn't a man alive without problems, whether it be paying the mortgage, family problems etc.... you've just got to suck it up and carry on.

I'm not going to speculate as to what these problems are, as it would obviously just be baseless conjecture, but if it's really bad then I suppose he had no option.

The problem in this instance is that we've heard excuses for two poor performances in a row, and there was a point made that he wouldn't fight again if he wasn't 100%.

It's people's nature to be cynical about these kind of things, that's life.

    I don't think he's got it mentally...

Personally, when I've had personal problems I've used other things as an escape, whether it be running, football, the gym, working, studying...and it's actually been a relief to do something that takes my mind off it...

Hope it all works out, but a lot of the time personal problems don't go away and you've just got to find away of working around them, plus learn how to keep you self out of situations that are going to lead to bigger issues.

Frankie has a cross tatooed on his arm but I have a feeling he doesn't go mass every weekend. I know Tibb's is a religious man. Something to look into maybe.

Gavin is not mentaly strong enough to make it as a boxer. He reminds me of Ortiz, I think he has quit in him.

  10. This is a good point, to me when you're feeling down for whatever reason there's nothing better than to keep busy.

I find that a lot easier than talking to people about stuff, or just carrying on as normal.

It's worked for countless people in the past, Jason Robinson was a certified alcoholic in his teens despite being the best young rugby player in the world.

One of his teammates took him under his wing to a degree and looked after him, got him on the straight and narrow..... he'll go down as one of the top 10 British rugby players ever.

Ouch...... that's probably the worst insult you could give a professional boxer.

Reminds you of Victor Ortiz :yikes:verysad:shock:

I think you'll find if you tally the amount of people who spend time driving x by the amount of time on the road compared to the time spent in a boxing ring and then divide the injurys/deaths etc you will find a completely different answer to your equation mate.

Accidents can happen in any walk of life and are more likely to happen if your heads in the clouds. Your comparisons are poor though, sure you can get hurt if your not right in other jobs but you are certainly more likely to get hurt if there is someone paid to actually hurt you in your profession.

Sure, you can have a go at Frankies professionalism in the way he has handled the situation (depending on the facts if and when they come out) but imo he has done the right thing by pulling out of the fight. The last thing boxing needs is another serious injury in the ring.

Maybe's his opponent isn't that great but it only takes one punch to do lasting damage.

The other argument here about protecting records and such, well we can attribute the blame on that to many people including the promoters, boxers, media, fans etc for selling and buying into the whole 0 thing that makes boxers want to avoid fighting each other because a loss would result in poorer paydays down the line.

It is a personal issue that he is dealing with and he obviously needs to get his head right. There are a million things to discuss on a boxing forum, not speculating or dismissing someone's mental health.

I was thinking along those lines yesterday too Rob. Regardless of what people's opinion's are on religion you can't deny it can be a great help to people at times
