    In Thomas articles he gets his official numbers from HBO. Me and you can get the info right off google. C'mon man I don't wanna argue this...you just kinda proved my point then moved around it. Credible journalist site there credible sources, this is no secret.

    But that story line is HUGE in terms of selling this fight to the public and how it factors into the current ppv generating power battle between Pac and Floyd. If Pac was fighting a 38 year old moving up from his natural lightweight to WW, this fight would do Clottey numbers and would be all on Pac's name to sell the fight. But the reality is, Pac, the history between the two and a little bit of JMM's popularity make this fight a fight that should do better than Floyd JMM

    SI (Sports Illustrated) which is the most reputable sporting magazine along with ESPN have all put out articles on the PAC vs Shane PPV numbers where 1.3 Million was confirmed.

    I know Thomas is credible but again.....these journalist aren't getting numbers before the fighters or promoters on any PPV numbers. They are only given the information AFTER the networks provide them to the fighters and promoters.

    Floyd even had a stipulation where his numbers could not be released until HE HIMSELF gave the OK. Which I didn't know was possible.

    No point in even arguing this... Only people who won't admit Pac vs JMM should sell more than Floyd vs JMM are those hoping and waiting to say Pac sold more vs one common opponent so he's the bigger draw.

    Confirmed by Bob Arum yes! Not by Showtime.

    Also Floyd owns Mayweather Promotions so he does not have the same rights as a normal fighter there was an article about his whole set up in the Times I think. So that didn't suprise me that HBO or Golden Boy could release his numbers without his say so.

    As I said and you confirmed HBO is a publicly traded company that has to release their numbers. Gerbasi cited HBO as his source not GBP.

    No one really give JMM a chance in this fight....nor did they with Floyd. The difference is JMM and PAC have history. That's it. it's enough to breath enough life into the promotion to see it do great PPV numbers....I foresee better numbers than what JMM vs Floyd did a couple years back.

    Josh didn't carry ANY weight in helping the promotion in Dallas...ALL 700K was on PAC's shoulders alone. The card was crappy...the fight was with an unknown Ugandan fighter with NO name recognition. So at the end of the day the numbers were a success.

    They couldn't release the normal week after estimate. They have a legal obligation to release the final tally. It's public information.

    In all honesty Showtime as reputable as they are wouldn't sit by while a promoter spread lies tied directly to their organization.....and NO reputable media source or journalist would blindly produce articles with UNFOUNDED details that they are pushing as facts.

    It was one fight with Showtime and it was a huge success...one that HBO CLEARLY regretted and ensured would not happen again. Based on what????:think 1.3 million in PPV buys! They wouldn't have fought to get BACK if his numbers were less that the best.

    Most fighters at this level in these times have or own their own promotional companies....it's jut NONE are presently LICENSED to put on their own shows which is why PAC and Floyd work through Top Rank and Golden Boy respectively...

    OF course Floyd has the best contract in ALL sports with controlling MOST of what his fights generate... but he doesn't cut his own checks and he doesn't have the rights to monies earned on profits outside of PPV and Gates.

    Clottey is from Ghana, not Uganda.

    Uganda = East Africa

    Ghana = West Africa

    I can think of one good reason Showtime would let Arum lie about the numbers: because they want to continue doing business with him. HBO had no problem letting Arum spout off inflated numbers for Pacquiao-Hatton and threatening journalists who wanted to release the official tally. Rafael has already twice stated that Pacquiao-Mosley did not crack 1.3.
