Where can I find fight #2? This may sound odd, but I wasn't overly impressed with Curry or Starling in their fight. I suppose that's reasonable though because neither had reached their peak yet, as a fighter. Curry didn't seem as accurate or as deadly as he was against McCrory or Larocca, Starling just seemed a little callous and not as smart as he was in later fights (such as Breland I). It was fought at a high skill level, but not as high as the 2 would go on to achieve. Still an interesting and intriguing fight, which was incredibly close.
Yeah, the 2nd fight, it all comes together. Your criticisms of the 1st are valid, and I touched upon them in my analysis. Not enough punching from Starling (which would be a recurring issue) and a lack of experience on Currys part (he would develop quickly of course) Best I can do online; last five rounds on soso :good
I got the Sky Sports 3 re-broadcast version of the fight if u aint already got it.Let me know if you want it and I will send it you.Its the full fight aswell.
I got that mate; I thought there was 4 rounds missing? Saw the full fight a couple of years ago, would love to see it again. Thoughts on Starling?
Wow. Starling, revised, with info' I'm surprised I managed to miss atsch Amazing, really. Sad, sad stuff, and maybe telling?
Yes, it would be very unfair to make you trawl through it again ;-) :good Starling 'killed' Charles Newell in one of his early bouts (he died a week or so later from the injuries he sustained) I think it's fairly significant, and tends to offer more explanations as to why Starling was sometimes too relaxed with his punch output in fights.
Fookin hell. Yeah, good addition, I wouldn't argue against that being significant. It's a very interesting piece of information :think.
SportsLeader, fadcinating article here (could've used some choice quotes for my piece, but it IMO it's way too long as it is) http://news.google.com/newspapers?n...2eY0AAAAIBAJ&sjid=mw4EAAAAIBAJ&pg=4272,931529 In other news, my next piece will be up tomorrow. A few things you lads (if any of care) should know -It's epic. Five parts It warrants it. Don't think this will be a recurring theme, like Starling, this narrative shouts for it. It's also been one of the most fun to lay out. IT APPEALS TO ****ING ANYONE WHO CARES ENOUGH TO LOOK IN THIS THREAD. -It won't feature any obscure Asians or painfully intricate technicians -It will rip your face off.
Just read through the article. Interesting stuff :good Nice insight from Marlon. It's never nice to have to say it, but what he said regarding how money-centered the sport is, couldn't be more true. He's right when he said that he only gained true recognition from one fight (At the time, Breland) and that everything else he did was overshadowed). It's a good story, his rise to the top; his overcoming great obstacles in his career, and proving doubters wrong time and time again. I enjoyed reading that article.
