I edited when I realised it sounded like I was serious. I've never had anyone on ignore, and don't plan to start with someone I've conversed with for years. I also think, that as both of us have our reasons and refused to be swayed on them, we probably shouldn't go round in circles on this subject. I have my reasons, you have yours. I will add that once I was so extremely derisory to 'old timers' that I swore blind that due to 'evolution' Audley would spark Dempsey with the first punch he threw Addie; I'd appreciate it if you don't reply with 'I think Audley would beat Dempsey' ;-)
You've won, Flea. The more we talk about it, the more my ignorance shines through. I know feck all about Greb or that particular era.
We all have to do it sometimes :thumbsup So...you don't reckon Barrera would beat Greb then? What do you think of the man in my avatar. I imagine you'd like him.
Barrera would definitely beat Greb. Barrera beats anyone on his best night. In all seriousness, I've not done any notable research on the man or any of his opponents. I have no business commenting on how good he was or the validity of his career as a professional prizefighter. I haven't even seen any of Schmeling's fights outside of his rematch with Joe Louis. I don't know who the man in your avatar is, Flea. Care to fill me in?
I'd favor Schmeling to knock out Haye, quite confidently. Random butt-in, yes. :!: I'll see myself out.
Cornelius Boza Edwards. One-time WBC Super Featherweight champion. I imagine you'll now know who I'm on about, but in case you don't, he was a skilled mid-range boxer puncher, tall/big for the weight, who was as tough as they come and could be relied to get in the trenches, and was an equally adapt inside fighter. His defence wasn't consistent enough, but he was quality, in some truly tremendous action-packed fights in a fiercely competitive era. Fought Arguello at 135 as well, before he moved down and Alexis permanently moved up. You should really watch Schmeling-Louis I ;-) Definitely if it's contested at 'Cruiserweight' IMO. I'm not sure that Haye could dish out the kinda' beating Baer did. In a battle of right hand bombers, Schmeling was the far more rounded fighter. Haye could well go the duration in his HW guise though, and did have enough speed and whack (don't rate his power anywhere near as much as most though) to do some realdamage if he can get his shots off first. Mm91: :rofl
Boza's working with Roger Mayweather now, I wouldn't of clocked who that was then when you say it you go 'ohhh yeah...'. .
