Yes when all else fails Pavlik has a cast iron chin which is another thing that makes him very hard to beat. Pavlik took a lot out of Miranda that night like he did Taylor, Zertuchi and Zuniga all were never stopped before Pavlik knocked them out a tell tale sign of a fighter that has real power. And all were never the same again which shows Pavlik is doing long lasting damage with his fists. Anyone that can be hit a little bit is in for a long night against a focused Pavlik.
the biggest fight in one of boxing's most historic divisions between the guy who ended hopkins reign v. the guy who hopkins said he's be happy to see take the reigns may not be a "super fight" but it would be have hyped that way by hbo. i agree w/ you that its not a manny/may superfight but it would have been huge back then.
It was at the time! Edison Miranda was 28 -1 at the time. Only loss was to AA by a 12 rd UD For IBF Title! Edison 1st 21 fights were won by Ko or Tko in under 5 rds. Most were 1st rd KO's! Taylor was 27-0-1 and beat Hopkins 2 times. That was a HUGE fight until that Pale White Boy Whooped both of them! :hi:
Look, Ward is about to fight Froch in a unification clash that is also the Super Six final. That is at the Boardwalk hall and is not even PPV. Miranda vs Taylor would not even be close to this level, so how could it be a super-fight?
No it wouldnt have No one really knows or cares about who the hell Bhop nor do they care about his opinion on the next rising star. if casuals saw the bhop-taylor fights they would permenantly stop watching boxing.
don't play that arm chair qb ****. where were they then. where they were then sure is **** where they aint now. that's trivializing where all three fighters were when these fights happened. the taylor that beat hopkins twice and drew with the winky that was less than a year removed from making tito look foolish surely isnt the same taylor now. it isnt the same winky now. you could go on for days with that.
youre throwing blinders on to how badly hbo was hyping both taylor and miranda. i said it wouldnt be a mega fight. but if you think hbo didnt have designs on hyping this thing through the moon you are out of your ****ing mind. as it turns out, neither fighter turned out the way hbo would have liked. but there is a huge difference between big money and true mega fights. don't confuse the two. hbo was going to make taylor/miranda into a big money fight. hbo had a hard on for taylor which is why so many people say he got the nods over hopkins in the first place. you can't have it both ways.
Thats bull Miranda only had a couple of fights on HBO anyway. miranda-taylor was never that hyped IF it was why wasn't taylor vs pavlik the guy who knocked out miranda a mega fight? ok then.
It sure was Relentless! They HAND FED Pavlik to Miranda Expecting Miranda to KNOCK OUT Kelly and Taylor to win in Impressive Form agaisnt Spinks on the Same card! Pavlik was still a UNKNOWN except to the fans who followed him!
look, taylor was hbo's baby. you can't deny that. miranda was the fight they wanted for taylor and it was the biggest mw fight that could be made at the time. that doesnt make it a mega fight. jesus i'm not making these guys out to be something they werent why are you arguing with me. all i'm saying is that hbo was going to hype the **** out of a taylor/miranda fight by having edison knock out this undefeated "ko artist" in pavlik. no it would draw a million buys and it wouldnt be the top story on espn but my god that is the way it was back then. for god's sake that is why kelly fought miranda on the taylor undercard. it was to get edison exposure by knocking kelly out.
