Andrea Sarritzu - Moruti Mthalane - IBF Flywieight Title:

Mthalane won by TKO7. Sarritzu's corner threw in the towel.

Sarritzu started well the first couple of rounds, but Mthalane eventually broke him down.

Good question IB, it wasn't cancelled but moved back a bit, so better wait for KIRK's ruling - in all likeliness it won't count.

You picked Mthalane by TKO BTW on the 13th, that is still good.

Nah, it won't count. If it did then the Roman Gonzalez fight awhile back should count then.

Miguel Vazquez: The Best and Most Under-Appreciated Boxer.

After reading about how Carlos Molina has been getting the shaft because of boxing politics, I figured, why not do a little write up on Miguel Vazquez? Molina has major gripe for not getting fights after beating fighters such as Ed Paredes, Danny Perez, Kermit Cintron, and giving Erislandy Lara all that he can handle in a draw. Molina should be getting big fights, but a better fighter is also getting the shaft and that is Miguel Vazquez. Vazquez has all the talent in the world and has put on boxing clinics against some top level fighters. Since moving down to 135 Vazquez is undefeated and has beaten the likes of Bredis Prescott, Ji-Hoon Kim, and Leonardo Zappavigna. All while barely losing rounds. Vazquez is one of those technical boxers that you should watch because he technically does everything right and is just so smooth about it. A beautiful popping jab, magnificent movement on his feet. Getting in and out, using angles to not get hit, and uses the clinch effectively. A fantastic boxer, one of the best boxers in all of boxing. He is also in one of the hottest division in all of boxing, 135 and is part of one of the biggest promotional companies in the world, yet, when people talk about the best 135 fighters, he is rarely mentioned. Even though, right now, he is the best 135 fighter in the world. Robert Guerrero is moving up to 140, Marquez is fighting at 144...for now, and the only fighter that comes close is Brandon Rios. The same Brandon Rios that after the boxing lesson Vazquez put on Zappavigna decided he didn't want to fight.

For all the talent Miguel Vazquez has and all the potential fights he can match up with, there is nothing on the horizon. His last significant fight was in March against Zappavigna, and he took a tune up in June, and yet, still nothing. Has Top Rank forgotten about him? Does nobody, really want to fight him? Top Rank has two major shows in these last two months, and Miguel Vazquez won't be apart of any of them. Such a shame, if Marquez does lose to Pacquiao and if Vazquez were on the card and win in impressive fashion, a potential Marquez-Vazquez would have been interesting. But, as it is, Vazquez isn't fighting and no rumours have come out about any big time match ups. I do hope, though, that Vazquez does get some big fights in the near future, because he has earned them, and does deserve them.

Great write on one of the most underrated fighter in the sport Dan!:good Yeah, "El Titere" is a stylistic nightmare for Rios. Of course, Rios always has that power to turn the fight in his favor with one shot. But right now if they were to fight, I do think Vasquez can take a UD.

    Thank you. :good

I agree, Rios is such a big, powerful guy that one punch could turn it around. That is one of the better fights to be made right now. That has all the makings of a classic. Big, powerful, fighter that just keeps coming forward. And then on the other side, a slick, talented boxer that could easily outbox him for 12 rounds, but that power is an x factor... Now, that I'm really thinking about it, that is the numero uno fight I want to see right now.

These weren't on the list, but two very entertaining fights. Undefeated Javier Molina was upended by Artemio Reyes. A fight that was like Cotto-Margarito for rounds 7-10, a green/prospect version. And Brandon Gonzales got a bit of a gift as he won via SD against Ossie Duran.

Eloy Perez was via TKO 6, but a very very strange stoppage.
