How common is amateur fighters lying about their fight expereince

This is actually pretty common here in Georgia,particularly with fighters who move here from out of state.They will claim to have "misplaced"their passbook,then they say they have 1,2,or 3 fights only.In reality,they have many many more than that and it shows in how they fight.They do this so they get easy match ups with less expereinced boxers.Imagine a guy with 25 Am fights fighting a novice with 1 fight!!That **** happens down here all the time.

Yeah happens here in england quit abit you get these Afghans who lie about their age when they come to the country and when they join the gyms they say they had no fights so a 17yr old on his 1st bout ends up boxing a 20yr old with 50+ fights

 

Lol happens here a lot also, I'm surprised USABoxing isn't more careful with these things

 

How do you know it is happening though?

 

knew a guy from poland who tried that ****,30 year old with 40 am fights ,said he had none and got matched up against a guy in his first,polish guy lost though lol

 

It happens a fair bit and is ****; I never understood it. The more experienced fighter gets nothing out of it but what, a feel good win? Wow, you're tough. That fight will help you so much when you hit 10 fights in your new passbook and enter open tournaments against guys who have had the balls to actually be fighting open the entire time.

 

I've seen near fights between coaches over that ****. Especially with the younger kids.

It's more the coaches fault then the fighters.

 

Ive heard several coaches admitting to it.

happens loads. i was a t a show a while ago and this guy was allegedly making his debut. he was a super slick southpaw. put the guy down in the first 45 seconds and the fight was stopped in the first round after a one sided beating. no way was it his debut.

 

had no idea that this happened.

 

Why would a serious boxer want to pull something like that though? That's what has got me. A real boxer would know that they gain next to nothing out of pummeling a novice if they are experienced. I suppose some people aren't in it seriously for the competition, which makes me question why they would box anyway.

 

if it's some 30 year old fightin some little kid, that's just plain messed up. but between two old ****s, anything goes.

i wonder if any prominent boxers ever pulled that **** while in the amateurs. they're usually the types that are desperate to pad their records with wins.

 

but there are also those that have extensive number of sparring rounds under their belt but have limited number of fights. So, I guess you can't always assume they're lying about their lack of fight experience.
