There is a story about Galento, perhaps apocryphal.

He was cashing up at his bar and a customer was consistently bothering him about his fight with Louis. Eventualy he asked-

What did it feel like to be hit by Louis?

    Galento replied

    Loik this

Anbd knocked the man out with a left hook.

The way the question is posed, not who was the scariest, but who was the scariest looking, I think there is only one proper answer.

Only one heavyweight made his living in later years scaring people with his looks. Only one heavyweight played Dracula, the evil Mr Hyde, Attila the Hun, and Jack the Ripper. Only one heavyweight made it as a horror star in films. Only one heavyweight scared a generation as a skeletal gunfighter gunning down hapless sodbusters in Shane. Yes, the scariest looking heavyweight of them all was Jack Brazzo, who later went on to a successful movie career as a frightening villian and monster under the name Jack Palance.

Sort of like Hannibal Lector at work.

    Calm, cool, collected.

Another story about Galento is this:

At one of Jackie Gleason's gigs (he was a comedian) a drunken, rowdy crowd member kept yelling insults at Gleason. After a while Gleason said "Mister, do you want to take this out side?"....that rowdy crowd member turned out to be Galento. I have no idea if they really did fight.

Wow, another great story! I doubt Gleason would have fought Galento.
