Sick, watching a 35 second clip hitting a bag ,and determining that Lewis would destroy dempsey. ESB is becoming an unserious new group of posters, methinks. Time to watch the paint dry on my wall. Makes more sense.:patsch

Lewis against an opponent he was cautious of could be defensive for the duration, ie Tyson, often he disposed with defence too like you say, technically he had straighter faster punches and his longer arms would see him land first

Burt Brennan was decent but wouldn't be a top contender in any era, he was a gatekeeper in the 20s being dominated by Greb and Miske and had a padded record with few wins over top contenders. All fighters get hit indeed, but getting hit by Lennox Lewis time and again is very different to being hit by Tunney or Brennan and is not going to see favourable results for Dempsey

I honestly wish I did have a time machine.

If Dempsey won then everybody predicting an easy Lewis win would look like an idiot, and if he lost in a competitive fiught they would still look like idiots.

    I prety much couldnt loose.

Then why was he - just like Liston against Ali - plotting forward in a straight line against Tunney, who kept circling and in doing so, won nearly every round?

OK, well probably the first thing I would do is place a large bet on James Douglas to knock out Mike Tyson.

They'd take it off you Janitor...they'd want to find out who killed Kennedy and got meet Jesus, **** like that, they won't let you set up Lewis-Demspey:? Selfish. You really should think on reading The Demspey Gambit, that's probably the closest we'll get!

Seriously, no disrespect to Dempsey. He's an ATG in his own right, dominating an entire era.

However, Lennox Lewis and any modern SHW champ would kick the living **** out of Dempsey every day of the week. The mere thought of this mismatch is painful to the mind.

Well I'm glad I could bring a debate about time machines into this thread, something it was sorely lacking.

Lennox Lewis was 10 times the fighter Valuev was. Bowe, Vitali, Wladimir and Lewis would all beat Dempsey, this is typical nonsense from the classic forum. It reminds me of how nostalgia can change peoples minds.

Watching 35 seconds of a guy who compared to a modern boxer can barely throw a punch from a balanced position is enough.

Can you imagine any modern professional top level heavyweight looking THAT bad on a punchbag??
