Whether Dempsey was legitimately kod by Flynn is still a matter of conjecture , what we do know with certainty is that he was pre pime . Lewis was the reigning Champion when he was bombed out twice. It's you who need to level the playing field if you aspire to any credibility. Dempsey was fighting in bars for eating money ,not in rings under rules. Spot the difference? Dempsey had 3 years of inactivity , then he came back against a great ,mobile ,elusive , undefeated boxer, whose whole career was centred around him ultimately fighting and ,defeating Dempsey . Dempsey had gotten soft, he was hollywood - minded, he had had his nose fixed ,and discovered the nightspots, and was no longer the hungry, snarling Mauler. Lewis was an over -complacent, over- confident champion ,who took his opponent too lightly and, paid the price for his arrogance. Altitude had ZERO to do with it. A focused, revenge obsessed Lewis restored the natural order. In their first fight ,they could have fought in Tibet,Mexico ,Kenya , or Lewis's home town which is 20 miles from me , it would not have made a scrap of difference as Lewis was honest enough to acknowledge. Why can't you?
I'm sorry, but you don't know what you're watching. Dempsey is working on the inside-game mechanics that softened up Jack Sharkey and is applying body-weight leverage to smash and blast that heavy bag around. Notice the bag is flying off Dempsey's explosive knuckles. The Mauler is not pushing it; he is punishing it. Mike Tyson idolized Jack Dempsey. And he saw the same footage you have. But he knew what he was watching.
I will say Lewis will be a difficult proposition for Dempsey. He had a big right hand and was no ordinary super heavy weight. If he caught Dempsey I don't think that a KO will be out of the question. Having said that my gut feeling goes with Dempsey. Jack unlike Tyson or Frazier could take a back ward step. He was no Tunney, but when the going went against him he could take a step back. Lewis sometimes and often was lazy on the jab, if he tries holding he will be rabbit punched, which Lennox will not like. In the end I think Dempsey's superior infighting skills and fast hands will give him the advantage, if he hurts Lewis , I don't see Lewis ending the fight. So I make Jack the favourite, however to me Lennox is a live underdog. And if someone picks him over Jack I have no problems. As for the boxers evolution, the training methods have remained the same. I don't see many fighters more skillfull than Gibbbons or Tunney. None today atleast. Fighters fight less often today, an IMO that experience counts for a lot in fights. Usage of steroids today is however more rampant today, which pays a big role.
Lewis would keep a guy like Dempsey on the end of his jab,imilar to Tyson/Tua. However If/when Dempsey comes under that jab, he could cause some serious problems. But i keep seeing Lewis-Golota for some reason, would Dempsey take Lewis right hand?

Dempsey was never really KO'd against Flynn because it was fixed, and if he was he was green and Lewis had a glass jaw that any decent heavyweight with a punch could shatter because two already did. Therefore Jack would get on the inside and make short work of Lewis. You've won me over. Congratulations.

Well it's clear in the sense that there's not much fence sitting. It's just that different posters have arrived at different conclussions. Some pick Demspsey and some pick Lewis. As for myself I would call Lewis the favourite and give him about a 60-65% chance of winning the fight.
