I got home in time to have missed the first three quarter-finals, thanks to some bad info (indicating that the event began at 4pm EST, when it was actually 3pm) The last one is about to go down between Barrington Brown and Troy James. This content is protected This content is protected
Round 1 Barrington is immediately laying into the James, treating this like a three-rounder. Very aggressive start, rocking and hurting the much shorter James with the right power hand using overhands and hard uppercuts. James hangs in there and tucks up, bombed out for the first minute but never taking more than one or two flush shots at a time. Now James comes on and works the body with side-winders and a good high 1-2. Barrington is pushed back to the ropes and worked over to head and body. Very nice swarming by James. Lots of bony forearm in Barrington's face as James pushes up at him and works that long body with hard left and right claps. 10-9 James, excellent comeback in the second and third minutes.
James was whoopin' that ass in there for a minute! IMO, the schedule these dudes go thru on this show is hardcore as ****.
Round 2 James is hooking both arms in from different angles, coming from low with the left and over the top with the right. Brown is just pinning his palms to his ears and getting rocked about as James pushes him back to the ropes and works the body. Sneaky uppercut by Brown while taking a backward step, and then a check hook as James keeps walking in. Brown can't slow James down, however - and isn't at the right range to get off his most effective shots. James keeps tapping the body. Hard uppercut by James swipes air after a push-off before they lean back together. Long right hand by Brown, lands obliquely but doesn't keep James off him. Slaps over the top with the right are whipped around and converted to uppercuts pushing forward by James. 20-18 James
Barrington Brown can't win this. The opening minute already showed us he can't knock James out (or even down), since those were absolutely the hardest blows he can muster. He's lost two rounds in a three rounder. If it goes the distance and James doesn't get it, robbery. A judge would be totally irresponsible to give Brown the 1st even as eye-catching as that initial barrage was.
