New to seeing choi, guy is 40 and looks absolutely fantastic. Did he ever make it big when he was younger?? If not how come?? I know it is only prizefighter but the guy has some world class boxing skills even if father time is catching up on him
Never got the chances, Was training with a fella from Oldham can't remember the man's name think it was Jack... Anyways his win over Matthews and inactivity sparked ESB/Fans to make posts/threads and Fearon thankfully fought to keep him here. Back when he was younger he was as good and held the power but why would any sane promoter put there boys in with Choi when he offered nothing £££ wise or even sold tickets. Boxing forums and Prizefighter and Hard Knocks have given Choi his chance sadly at later end of what could of been a sterling career.
Unfortunately his popularity has come precisely because he was so under the radar and deserved more chances and people saw the injustice. If he had it to begin with chances are he'd have had a bigger and better career. He's fought some good fighters though lets not forget in Ledwaba and Sahaprom in only his third(!) fight. He needed a bit more momentum in the couple of years preceding the breakout victory over Matthews, as I do feel he progressed pretty late though obviously he simply can't be in his peak now at 40 years old.
On the plus side he's that popular on ESB that he can now get away with fouls that would normally have some people writing a letter of complaint to the BBBofC!!!

Hit a guy when he was down, raked the glove bandages up another guys face..... Doesn't bother me but then again I try to be consistent on stuff like this, not just pick on one particular fighter...

I think the ref was pretty consistent really in the sense they were both constantly fouling (in the final anyway - I know Choi lumped the guy in the 2nd round while he was down). You could even say Choi's fouls came as a result of Roberts holding. It was a case of punishing both or neither and over 3 rounds in a final...just get on with it was probably common sense well applied. It all depends on the situation...!

he didnt take up boxing till he was about 24 and didnt come to the UK till he was in his 30s. i believe finding him fights was very difficult
