Koreans have huge calves. They're not into boxing though.

Yeah, his calves make him look like a straight up pitbull. That's why I'm amazed at how fans wonder how he can take a punch so well. With those big ass legs... It's going to take a hell of a man to knock him down these days.
To be fair though, even the boxers with "Chicken legs" i'm sure have strong legs. I mean they run miles and miles, and I'm sure do some leg exercises. Even guys like Berto and Ortiz LOL

Again I will say boxers don't usually have large thighs. It's hard as hell to have large muscular thighs when you're doing insane amounts of cardio. Cardio at the rate boxers do actually burns muscle. Boxers have strong legs built for endurance but not for 1 rep power. TO build massive thighs a guy needs to focus on heavy squats, leg presses and even extensions followed by zero cardio and also have an abundance of protein and carbs in his diet. You can't build muscle restricting calories and jogging miles every day.
PAc's calfs are a genetic gift. Roy had ok calves if I remember too. If Pac was a bodybuilder and focused on actually those things I mentioned he'd be a little monster.

You seem to equate size with power, there are many great, strong, explosive athletes with skinny legs.
Pac's calf muscles aren't doing **** for him, I guess you didn't understand my explanation about how movement works.
If Pac was a bodybuilder he'd be big and slow, bodybuilding doesn't train strength or speed. Also I think you mean 1 rep strength, not power. Let me guess, you don't know the difference between power and strength?
Power is about the rate of force development, you can be the strongest guy in the world but if you can't apply it fast enough for your sport it's useless. Power is improved by working on the stretch-shortening cycle and nervous system with plyometrics or olympic lifts.
You people are dumb as ****, seriously this is simple ****.
You can't tell anything about an athlete by looking at them, the way boxing fans go on about their favourite guys appearance and focus on a part of their anatomy to explain their boxing ability is ridiculous. Boxing fans seem to not understand a single thing about the human body.
I'm wasting my time conversating with you ******os, I'm out.

I see your point, but those huge calves do help Pacquiao balance himself to be able to move, stop, get on them toes and let go of some shots, then move again. It's normal calf movement, but not everyone can pivot like athletes do at a high level. I just think those calves add to Pacquiaos power.

It's not that big a deal. People are smarter than you think. The same can be said about the biceps muscle right? All muscles work the same, but some muscles help different people in different ways because of how they train them. Don't let a few clowns bother you, its just a discussion.

wasnt there a big to-do thread made by the *****s about this a year ago?

Im 5'6.5" and chinese-hawaiian, and basically have the same dimensions of Pacquiao. Born athletically gifted and had the ability to dunk on a 10ft rim at age 16. But our calves look totally different...

Take your same line of reason to the NBA, you'd expect a good bunch of those guys would have Pacquiao-like calves but they dont. Nevertheless, much of their sport is about jumping, sprinting, and other bursts of anaerobic activity. Instead, the vast majority of them have lean, streamline calves...

Besides specifically developing the muscle, the dimensions of it is determined by ethnicity (not peds, according to some **** *****s in the past) and other natural born dna factors. And the size of a muscle doesnt even neccessitate the true development of it. Ive seen time over time wiry guys throw around bigger bulky guys on the mat before.

lol, good points, but EPIC FORUM MELTDOWN!!!

im sure Pac's calves are well-developed for what its worth. If not, he wouldnt have that explosive Go-Go Gadget left straight that he over-commits with to track down an opponent going straight back...

I really hope you're not calling me ******ed relating to muscle growth. I've spent 20 years doing so. I think you're misunderstanding a few things. Pac has great genetics for bodybuilding. If he wanted to he could become a little freak. Not sure what you're arguing with there. I never said a bodybuilder would make a good boxer.:think
Sure, some smaller guys are actually stronger than bigger buys with bigger muscles. A lot equates into that, not JUST muscle. But, when a muscle becomes larger it also becomes stronger and vice versa. More strength recruits more muscle fibers. I have never become stronger without also seeing the muscle grow, and I've never gained muscle without my strength increasing.
You're awfully testy and no idea why you're going off the handle.

Yes, they definitely do. Just look up the science of punching and you'll see, aside from Lefty ranting off topic. Power starts at the feet, flowing through the legs, hips and out the arms. Kinetic thing I think.
