Ray Mercer who but Lennox Lewis to the limit.

You comprassion sucks. also that is not why Tyson fought Holmes. Fight with Holmes was Tysons goal since he was 16 years old

i suggest you go and watch some tyson interviews he says himself that he waited for holmes to age before fighting him so please stop talking out of your arse...mercer was decent and a tough guy but his boxing ability wasnt great holmes had the style to beat him regadless of his age..so did lewis but he decided to get into a fight with him instead of just boxing him...

Iggy was a good boxer/puncher. His power was above average in both hands, his defense, excellent, and his speed above average. Excellent beard, and a SP to boot. Had he stuck around, he could've been a part of the revolving WBA door for another 6,7 years, and if he were around today, he'd still be top 8-15 easy.

His top wins are really not comparable to Tysons, although I see where IAHB is going, but really, Holmes was still a top 5 when Mike KOd him, Holy was more like bottom 20 when Iggy UDd him. But again, his other big wins are solid, and with his size disadvantage, his big wins are even bigger.

I've heard it said he retired b/c he knew he couldn't be the best, so why fight on. I've heard he retired to dedicate himself to God. Either way, his early retirement sucks b/c he was a fairly entertaining fighter, and coulda made some more decent scraps in his career.

Seems like alot of above average fighters retire simply b/c they can't be the top dog.....Rydell Booker comes to mind. He was holding his own vs Toney when he lost by decision. He never fought again.:-( Booker could be a top 30 HW today, but once his cherry was popped, he left and never came back.:-(

Now I know why Floyd won't fight Pac.......he doesn't want to have to hide his face, and retire into obscurity.

Let me tell you how this Timur would fare against his cousin:

about as well as Lamon Brewster would fare against his cousin. :deal

(come to think of it, that would be a nice double-header . The outcomes are inevitable, though. Each family's superior boxer wins)

I usually don't fear for a fighters safety in a fight.....unless of course they are Shannon Briggs in the 8th rd of the Vitali fight:lol:....

But I literally fear for Timur right now.....he's been inactive since he was outworked by JMM last winter and he's fighting Mitchell after a yrs absence.

He used to be somewhat slick, but his loss to Mormeck was anything but slick. If he fights like that vs Mitchell, he's getting hurt.

Mercer was top heavyweight. You asked if he beat any top heavys and he did.

Tysons whole style was molded to beat Holmes, that was his goal since he was young boy. He also consideres victory over him as one of his career highlights.

How did he wait him to get old when he was basicly retired when Tyson got to the top

And don't forget Holmes had a few "gift decision" against green kids. So He really had lost about four times....

ill repeat this once more for you and ill put it in capitals so it sinks in....MIKE TYSON HIMSELF SAID HE WAITED FOR LARRY HOLMES TO GET OLDER BECAUSE HE KNEW HE WOULD HAVE A BETTER CHANCE AGAINST HIM...IM NOT SAYING THIS..IM REPEATING WHAT MIKE TYSON HIMSELF SAID IN AN INTERVIEW...OK.....ray mercer was tuff but very limited and a guy with holmes style should make easy work of him lewis got dragged into mercers fight...its kind easy to see take your blinkers off

Feather fisted bum is a bit much. I'd say it's more like a Ricky & Matt Hatton dynamic.

Sultan like Ricky had more natural talent and a style that was more prosperous for him head-to-head on the big stages...

Timur like Matthew does more with less, and uses good fundamentals and a solid work ethic to over-achieve and hover just below the world-class level their more famous relatives nonchalantly coasted to.

If the two Hatton brothers fought, though - I'd see it as actually somewhat competitive @ 147. :think Rick was really no hot **** as a welterweight.

If the Ibragimov cousins fought, Sultan would SCHOOL Timur severely. Like I said earlier, it would be as dominant a boxing lesson as Byrd would give Brewster.

Talk about an awkward holidays. "Pass the peas, please. (or I'll give you another black eye...)

Ok. Care to show my when he said that and at what context

It dosent mater if hes style is suited to beating him. You selling Olympic gold medalist, who was top-10 heavy about 10 years, just as a decent tough guy to futher your agenda is pitifull.
Btw After Tyson fight old Holmes also but Holyfield to the limit and hang in divisions top 10 for years.
Tysons victory over great Holmes was way better than Ibramigovs win over Holyfield and everyone with a half of brain knows it.

Old Holyfield was not even close to top 10 when he faced Ibramigov. He hadnt been for four years and will probably not be ever again
