I genuinely don't wanna sound like a cheapskate here. A while ago I did a thread about which biographies I should read, since then i've been reading tonnes of reviews and I know which books I wanna read first. My issue is the bloody cost of the things! Looking on sites like amazon they all seem to be in the 30-40 pound range. Is this normal for boxing books? Or am I just looking in the wrong places?
30-40 pound range? You're talking nonsense. You can get books from Amazon sellers for as little as a penny to around a pound. Some new as well as used. What kind of books are you looking at for that price? Have they got gold plated covers on them?
I would like to buy the Pollack books but they are just so expensive to UK buyers. Another one is Paxton's Greb book. But like the original poster, I just can't justify spending over £30 or £40 for a book. :bbb If there is a place to buy them cheaper, I would like to know about it.
Another two I'd like to read are the Aycock books on Joe Gans and Black Boxing Champions. Just looked on Amazon and one is over £33, the other over £37!!
Cheers for that :good But that also proves the point ...... £24.97 save £11.53 ..... that means the retail price is £36.50!!
I've been collecting boxing books for over 35 years ..... probably got close to a 1000. I've paid ridiculous sums of money for books and old magazines. But that was all before I became a single parent and had money to spare.
Try Ebay. I have gotten a lot of good boxing books there at great prices. Try Four Kings. Great book about Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, and Duran and their fights with each other
