Bowe wasn't the smartest boxer out there but he's good and big enough to demolish Louis. A 30s Louis in his entire career has never been hit with anywhere close the power that a modern HW like Bowe can dish out. This would look a lot like Bowe vs. Seldon. An out-muscled Louis would collapse face down after the first big right hand cracks his jaw.
Here is a man not knowing what he´s talking about. Louis fought plenty of guys that punched harder than Bowe. Bowe was hurt by a mediocre puncher like Holyfield, his defense has more holes than Swiss cheese and he wasn´t good at using his size but instead chose to fight in close where Louis excelled. Louis is the best and hardest combination puncher the hw division has ever seen. He´d tear Bowe apart and quite early too.
Yea like who? Schmeling, who'd be a LHW today? Any above average average modern day HW belt holder would destroy a 1930s Louis. Bowe is one of them.
like who? as opposed to Louis getting ktfo by a washed up Smellin', floored by a terrible Galento, or a never has been in Braddock...or how about getting your brains boxed out by a LHW? Bowe was so **** with so many flaws yet the 200lbs Louis was all perfect and the greatest fighting machine on earth
Bowe's extra weight caused Louis some problems early on,but once the Brown Bomber finds his range,he stops Bowe.
:thinkthink you're adressing the wrong guy i'm very well aware of that, in fact my post is a reaction on what bodhi just said.
I'm sort of in the middle with both arguments. Louis has plenty of weaknesses - he's not that hard to hit himself, he's smaller/weaker, Bowe has the better chin and Bowe absolutely would be the biggest best puncher he faced. He also has fast hands and would hit Bowe plenty. Bowe has fast hands too and would be by far the best SHW Louis ever faced. It's sort of like Bowe-Holyfield, except Holyfield has a better chin, balance and footwork, is stronger but Louis hits harder. Not sure who wins, probably leaning towards Bowe
:thumbsup Max and Buddy Baer? Schmeling was a superior puncher to Bowe too and look how long it took him to put Louis away. Schmeling was as washed up as Louis was green. Those who take either position are either trolling or don´t know what they are talking about. Louis could get knocked down, true, but it needed atg punchers to knock him out. Here´s the ing magazine´s top100 punchers, you´ll find Marciano at 14, Schmeling at 55 and Bowe ... nowhere. http://boxing.about.com/od/history/a/ring_punchers.htm Oh, and wait, what happened to Galento, Braddock and Conn? Oh, yeah, they all got knocked out. Nobody said Louis was perfect but in a different class to Bowe. And Bowe, as pointed out by me, was tailormade for him. Louis excelled against big guys. Bowe is big with a mediocre chin, a bad defence and likes to fight on the inside where no one was better than Louis. You don´t think Louis would take advantage of that?
Bowe at his very very best would be the best fighter Louis had ever faced and would certainly be a live underdog.
The 100 Ring's greatest punchers Bowe hit harder than the Baer brothers and had 230lbs behind his punches compared to Schmellings 190lbs, I don't need the Ring to tell me otherwise Again I'm not picking either way you and Cael are both making silly points though
It's okay, PP, I got this **** on lock-down! We absolutely believe that, Bodhi. Check it: This content is protected This content is protected
