Simple question. I agree that Wlad is an excellent boxer. Very talented, intelligent, charismatic... but i find him extremely boring to watch. I am sure this has been discussed before but interested to get a poll going
some fights are better than others. the holding pisses me off sometimes and the ibragimov fight too. he makes up for it with nice KOs. But after the brewster lose be became a diff fighter. holding isnt has bad. now he is a pure boxer. doesnt need to shot huge shots in the ring.
:rofl:rofl I have it the exact same way...He is good.throwing his jab and sometimes mix it with his right hand.... HE IS BORING to watch for 12 looong rounds.BUThe wins his fights, and completly runs the HW division. BUT BORING...:think
Sure, why not? He packs knockout power and has a questionable chin. Therefore a KO could happen at any time in any of his fights. That should be enough to put any real boxing fan on the edge of their seat.
Dammit, Zakman. You stay in character. Is that the best you can do for Wladimir effin' Kltischko? That's like watching Magic Johnson miss an easy pass to Worthy.
Git er done:good Absolutely love to watch him fight. He throws powerful jabs, restrains himself from getting sloppy, and throws laser guided straight right hands. His losses were even exciting although I didn't see the Puritty fight live. But before the loss to Sanders, my brother and I damn near got into our own little brawl as I argued that Wlad could be looking at a KO loss. Obviously he was dumbfounded at the powerful L hand that Sanders delivered to essentially end the fight the first time he landed it. The Brewster1 fight had nearly every Wlad fan flying of the handle before the first L hook landed. We all saw Wlad dominating and cruising towards a KO or UD, but when the 4th rd began, we all mostly knew something was WRONG. Obviously seeing the result was discouraging, but still exciting nonetheless. I was as aggravated by the Iggy fight as anyone, but it is what it is. Sometimes, styles clash, so the result was what it was. Boring yes, but dominating as well.
Yep. I don't like it when he's too careful though, like in the Haye fight. Having him off balance, completely open for a straight right and then opting for a rangefinding jab instead afraid to get countered. I really loved to watch Wlad in his first 40 or so bouts, search and destroy type fights. I understand why he abandoned that though.
Not really, he's a heavyweight Sven Ottke, overly passive, holds too much, throws very little apart from the jab and the odd straight right hand. The only thing that keeps you engaged in his fights is the fact he could get KO'ed at any moment if he makes a mistake. I admire his skill and athleticism but his fights lack drama. I find Vitali to be more watchable, he is just as dominant but he doesn't just coast to a points victory he puts a proper beat down on his over classed opposition.
For all 10-15 times Wlad has been down in his career, about 1/2 were vs HUGE punchers, 1/3 were from rabbit punches while he was off balance, and 1/3 were flash Kds where he was caught cold or standing straight up. That said, we've seen him take huge bombs from power punchers in succession and only flinch without going down. He's also been hurt but recovered like most ALL pro fighters. I posted an article by a man who scientifically laid out the reason Wlad is not chinny. Obviously it didn't go over well, but he proved, that throughout history, Wlad has taken harder punches without going down, from bigger HWs, than most other HWC's in history.
You're right. :think That was unnecessary. But, okay, let's do this. Ahem...If SNV and Volo's chin collided, Volo would be knocked spark out and SNV would be completely unfazed, because he has a titanium jaw and Volo has a jaw made out of the **** they tell you is really rice cakes.
I enjoy watching him fight but agree sometimes he needs to open it up. oppurtunities in the Haye fight to K.O. him went by the wayside. He is fighting smarter now. I remember the days when he was worried about punching himself out. he has come a long way. No matter how you feel about him, you cant really argue with his knockout percentage. 49 knockouts is impressive.
Let me say it this way: I would never rewatch a W Klit fight in my free time. Just as I would never rewatch a Ruiz fight. He was always winning too. But that doesn't make him a must-watch. I also wouldn't rewatch him to enjoy a technical performance. If I want to watch a technical performance, I pop in something of early Toney, Mayweather, Hopkins hell even Lewis or Holmes. The keyword is multidimensional. They can mix it up in any style or arsenal. They aren't just good in doing one thing. They are exceptional in more dimensions...and they show it (without being begged to)!
