Against Omri Lowther. Who, to be fair to Rios, didn't really go all out exactly, very much tried to almost spoil(he did plant his feet and come off worse in exchanges now and again) and be as slippery as possible, constantly moving and then ducking and dodging whenever Rios got close. Wore himself out quickly due to the way he fought. You couldn't find two more different fighters than Lowther and Murray anyways, I can't envisage Murray trying to skirt around the outside and staying on his toes in similar fashion to Omri, it would be a tremendous stylistic transformation if he were to do so.:yep As you say, if there's a style for Rios, it's going to be Murray's. It's hard to look that good against a guy like Lowther, but Rios really didn't help himself by getting frustrated time and time again before just trying to mow the guy down.
Rios will destroy Murray, 4 round's at the most. To add... LOL @ the person who said "Mitchell all day long" against Rios.
I think Rios is way over rated on this site. Although I think Rios will probably stop Murrey I would not be completely shocked by the upset. Rios is very easy to hit...he is like a mini Margarito style wise. I also think Mitchell would fair better against Rios. I would like to see Gamboa step up...imo he has the style to beat Brandon.
Rios is nothing like Margarito. Rios can move and also has a defence, Margarito's defence is his chin. Rios take's shots' because he's willing to take a shot to land one, but if he want's to be defensive and box he can. He's not overrated, he's just a good talent, and will dominate the 135lbs division when Marquez has gone
I think John murray is a very average fighter. He certainly isn't world class and will get destroyed by rios within 5 rounds.
I what ways is he comparable to Marg style wise? Care to elaborate? Rios gives up a little in defence by stepping forward paired with his willingness to take a shot to land one. But I wouldn't compare him to Marg. Rios/Gamboa is an interesting style match up. Rios can hurt him so he would need to use his speed and get the combo's in.
Didnt Antillon land like 80 punches on Rios in 2 and a half rounds? I like the mini Margarito comparison except Margaritos chin(In his prime)was much better than Brandons.
Similar fighters IMO but Rios is better in every single department, Should be fun while it lasts Rios in 3-4.
