Hatton gets **** on too much. Roy gets **** on too much. ****, everyone gets **** on here.

Calzaghe does get a hard time, but then again he's rated far too highly by some.

He was great. He could have been an ATG. The fact that he didn't is largely his own fault. But come on, you can't find guys with his talent anymore.? What about Gamboa? Equally as talented and exciting to watch.

Yeah Naz deserves more respect for the entertainment he gave us.

Love or hate him but he was fun to watch.

    One of a kind.

Calzaghe was a great fighter, made Hopkins look like a fool!

A better question would be " Is Farmboxer a total douche or a semi-*****?"

His legacy will always be affected by a resume devoid(for the most part) of big names and filled with so-so challengers. What bothers me about Calzaghe is he had the talent to mix with the best but didn't chase big fights till the Fat Lady had her coat on.Whatever faults Hatton had,I always admire that he took a tiny percentage just to get Kostya over and get his name out there. If more European fighters followed that route we'd know for sure if they're worthy of the big bills in America.More the pity because Calzaghe was one of the ones who could.Cold hard facts and economics dictate that if you truly have "it" then sometimes you need to bite the bullet and take a pay cut to get your face out there. For me,Calzaghe's reign is like later Scorcese movies, some really good moments, but you know the guy could do so much better.

yep , general forum revisionist history - the ESB hype around Jeff lacy was a full on love fest , till Calzahge ruined him for good and nowadays its all " lacy was a bum , hype job " etc .

go back and look up the old threads - I cant be arsed to do it for you .

He was a good fighter. I'm not a fan, though -- I really dislike his punching technique. Credit to him, he made it work in the ring, but it just looks...bad.

Having a close match with an old Hopkins (in which he was floored) and embarrassing a shot Roy Jones doesn't do much for me either.

    Pretty much.

    Agreed.

Although, I do give Calz credit for beating guys like Lacy and Mitchell, Reid, etc.

People could argue for ****ing days about Calzaghe. I'm from England and I have to say, I'm not really a fan.

I think the 0 on his record eventually ended up meaning more to him than a legacy as a world class fighter. Lacy was a hype job... so discounting that his career fluctuated in a career best win against Kessler (In his 44th fight!!). He very scarcely stepped out of Britain to fight and left it that late to fight in America - all above signs point to a padded and protected record.

Over here we are left with a semi-famous TV personality who will always be announced as 'undefeated' by presenters. Least he will have a smile on his face eh.

  13. He would Shatter your big lantern Glass Jaw in the opening stanza with a pawed rangefinder jab just for your sheer insolence. :deal

I like his style of overwhelming his opponents, but I'll never give him respect for only coming to the U.S to fight guys out of there prime. Years and years went by and he could have proven himself prime for prime.
