That not entertainment thats bloodlust, different thing altogether. You don't give a **** whether a fighter gets killed so long as you get a hard on...****ed up
Flash - I can agree that a lot of the time the referee should allow the fighter to attempt to make the count, and then take a proper look at him if he makes it. Don't agree with the rest of that post though, not at all.
Oh dear :-( Should they abolish ringside doctors & make the fighters walk to the nearest hospital if they need treatment?
I know EXACTLY where Flash is comin' from....except for not caring. I always care for each fighter in the ring, even when it's someone I'm not a big fan of, for example when Khan got sparked by Prescott my first reaction was 'is he alright?' Once I knew he was: :happy
what i will say is referees should warn fighters if they are looking at stopping them. be it for lack of action or if they feel they're taking a bit of a beating (obviously not an extreme hiding taking loads of clear punches, that warrants stopping, just if they're looking out of their depth) , they could do that in the corner and the fighter cant complain then if he still doesnt throw back or still cant get out the way of incoming punches, he was told and couldnt rectify the situation, was heading for a ko. also in britain theres a habit of stopping a fight if a decent combination is thrown or a quick enough flurry of punches, even if the opposing fighter isnt wobbled and still has his hands up protecting himself, that bugs me
Yeah i was a bit like that when Pac man was handing Margo's arse to him, i was like, well is he gonna stop it or what, he's just getting his head punched in here!
Some British stoppages are becoming disgusting IMO. You get left feeling like you havn't got the full value for your money.
There may come a time (and this may have already happened) where fewer people go to fights or buy PPV because they see a stoppage like that Calzaghe-Manfredo one
IMHO at least some of that is down to the "prospect vs. Roadsweeper" type matched we have. A lot of them end in premature stoppages but the guy never had much of a chance in the first place so its hard to be TOO critical of the ref in those circumstances.
I understand where your coming from Gaz but our prospects should have to earn there stoppages a bit more then they do at the minute.
TBH that stoppage was very early but its never bothered me as I never felt the fight had a hope in hell of being competitive anyway. If it went on longer yo are just watching ManfrEdo get hit for a bit longer. Fights like Bellew-McKenzie are the ones that **** me off where the outcome is still in the balance and one fighter hasn't had a f,air crack to recover.
