Jack it's not the Klitschko's fault they can't get on HBO, it's the lack of competition from their opponents. And the fact HBO would rather have an American challenger in one corner, instead of eastern Europeans. Not because they arn't good.

For all the talk about how exciting your boy Haye was, none of his Heavyweight fights were carried in the U.S. until he fought Wlad.

Thar being said there are bad thing about being shown on ESPN. Lack of pre-fight build up and post-fight interviews. Commercial breaks every other round instead of hearing the corners advice or replays of certain exchanges. And last but not least probably having to listen to Teddy Atlas bash them like you do. He'll probably say there's 1 empty seat and they didn't sell out. Or even worse this time round, that he trains a real heavyweight champ, and is now willing to fight the Bro's and beat them, if they can reach terms. To bad Brian Kenny won't be there to contradict him.


And if the contracts that the Bro's receive to be shown on ESPN are low, why should we mock them. We should thank them for not being greedy *******s and allowing us to view the Heavyweight Champion of the world.

And you'll be front row making an extremely undeserving Haye richer, when he comes out of retirement and throws up another stink fest running away from Vitali all night.

 

If the fight is on any ESPN channel, it will be shown on ESPN 3.

Yeah and it used to be on "regular" TV and the Radio...but hell that was when boxing actually meant something, I can see how you would object to the HW champion fighting in front of a viewing audience that dwarfs that of HBO and Showtime combined.

It's not like ESPN does this for any other fighters. Besides their scheduled Friday Night Fights and regular Deportes shows. Name another fight or fighter that they have done this for. Even with college football or the NFL on next day tape.

Funny thing is........Arreola has never beaten anyone as good as Oquendo
much less Tiggy. But yet he is still considered a top HW b/c of his activity. Last I heard was Wlad offered him a career high payday and a Nov date in MSG....but instead, Cristobal goes to Mexico, against a Cclass fighter, for likely around 50K and probably NO tv.:-( and even worse....no closer to becoming a world champ.

 

Glad ESPN is picking up this fight...shows serious ambition in trying to become more relevant on the BIG STAGE.

I'm postive HBO offered to carry this fight, but obviously ESPN outbid them. Props to ESPN for stepping up.....really gives us fans a FREE night to look forward to.

 

And he's american so that also helps.

Although the wins against Timur and Oquendo were controversial, that can't be denied, but Mormeck has certainly faced better competition than Arreola at HW lately.

 

In a way it would be better if they didn't. If we want boxing to grow, we don't want to expose the masses to Wlad pawing and holding a smaller weaker man for half an hour.

 

What's sad is that the heavyweight champion of the world is fighting a smallish cruiserweight who struggled against fourth-tier competition in his only forays into the heavyweight division.

 

And if Mormeck actually had beaten Oquendo, I might give him more credit for it. Oquendo got robbed against Mormeck worse than he did against Toney, Holyfield and McCall combined. Timur's no better than Ahunanya or Quezada. They're all crappy opponents.
