Deontay Wilder will face Mexican heavyweight Daniel Cota.

What you say? A step up for Deontay or what?

Better fighter than the last ones. ?

Hard to say. Could actually be a step down.

i think this is fine the guy has a winning record high KO percentage and his stoppage loss to Montana is better than any body Wilder has faced so interesting

the guys losses all went more than 5 rounds so he will test Wilders stamina and make him work for the win

How so? He is being moved slowly but surely for a person will little actual boxing experience.

deontay wilder's being brought along for a reason. he isn't polished in the slightest bit. he's still developing physically, mentally, and from a technical boxing standpoint. there's still no reason why he should be being rushed into a fight with a guy who is at a higher caliber than the opponents he's facing. his managers know what they're doing and they know the potential moneymaker they have on their hands if they play their cards right.

They've moved him appropriately. He's extremely young by heavyweight standards and is basically still a novice. I think the time is right to move from F to D fighters, but he's not ready for too much of a challenge yet.

Wow, two of the biggest Glass Jawed Frauds in boxing and both on the same card!

Wilder, though he hasn't been KOed yet, has the potential to surpass the current Glass Jaw King Kirkland on the rankings, but we won't really know unless he steps up past Alabama flea market fighters and the "10th best HW in Mexico".

Looking at this guy's Boxrec, he weighed in at 178 at age 20 and is now 232 at age 26. I don't know if he filled out big time or just put flab on, but it's worth noting.

Any guy who at least tries to win is a step up for Wilder at this point. We will see what Cota brings to the table.
