I really wish Pac could put his fear of needles,or superstition aside and fight this guy already.. Floyd has been calling him out, setting up dates while Manny has not displayed any real interest in wanting to fight Floyd..
I am from TX and I went to the Clottey fight. The money is in Vegas dude. Arum is going to play hard ball in making the fight.
Yeah seriously man Cowboy Stadium is weak man. MGM all day gambling, better seats, hotel rooms, you know how much money is generated in MGM fights.? and like young blood said manny has fought there before recently and Mayweather only fights there so it was the destination from day one. May 5th is a perfect date to if you put canelo on the undercard then the PPV will/should/could even surpass PBF DLH cuz of the Mexicans tuning in. Also most casual fans would see Pac as a bigger threat than DLH was. 3 million buys is very possible but the hype has to be on point. Faceoff needs only Pac and Floyd and **** TALKING. 24/7 has to be exciting and maybe even extended like 6 weeks instead of 4. and espn coverage and just billboards and commercials (maybe even the legendary elevator idea lol) all that. Damn I hope arum is done milking manny and we get this fight finally.
i just can't see the point of having to announce something like this now when nothing is a lock at this point. pac still has a fight to finish and they still have to sit down, negotiate, and get everything signed. they haven't even spoken officially yet and one camp goes out with decisions while not consulting with the other camp. i am assuming here yes, based on what i've read so far. but to me, it looks like they really intended to irate arum with this move. they know how bob would react and now they got it.
The MGM Grand Garden Arena, brings in more money than Stadiums, less seats at MGM but tickets sell for ALOT more.....on Top of that the revenue the Casino and Resort Makes on the traffic and buzz created by the bout make Vegas, and the largest Resort in Vegas (MGM) best place to make the fight financially... A sold out Mega bout will pay fighters more in the MGM grand Garden arena, than a sold out fight in any Sports stadium in the USA.... If they made more money fighting in Stadiums they would. Klit-Adamek had tickets selling for as low as $25.00, the most inexpensive tickets for Marquez-Pac I saw when I bouth mine were for $200.00..........
As always, Mayweather is a jealous little punk that wants to take away Pacman's glory time. He has no intentions of fighting him, it's his ass kissing people that circulate all these stupid rumors. Both camps can't agree on anything. Pacquiao is still suing Mayweather, so is everyone else. Arum and that dumb ass Ellerbe haven't agreed on one damn thing. Pacquiao is fighting Marquez, and that should be a great fight. Pacquiao really doesn't need to fight Mayweather any longer. Mayweather is so full of crap. I won't believe one word from either camp unitl they both enter the ring and do battle. All of this he said this and he said that is all BS! Just leave the promoters out of it, and speak face to face with each other and fight. No wonder the UFC is stepping all over boxing. At least that jackass Dana White makes them fight.
MGM grand is the mecca of boxing. Cowboy stadium isn't worthy of holding the biggest fight in boxing. I also don't think Pac cares about the location, Arum would be the only one to have a problem with this. But personally I think it has more to do with Mayweather's business model maybe. I think Mayweather has deals with venues inside that stadium to make profit on side things. He may not have those same connects with Cowboy stadium.
And that's all it is. All they've done is made a claim that they've booked the MGM for the 'little fella', and the fans are all "OMG Floyd wants Pac badly!!!". Calm the **** down, people. We've been here several times before, with nothing materializing. It's just move/statement to annoy Arum; which has led to an Arum rant in response. Just wait for Pac to settle business with JMM first, and a month or so after that, before deciding on who's preventing what from happening.
If the fight made more money in Texas then that is where it would be held. Unfortunately it doesn't...
Who cares where they fight? Besides all the other reasons to fight in Vegas that have been mentioned, you can't see **** anywhere outside of the first 30 rows or so. Its better to watch it in HD at home or in a bar/casino. Which makes me wonder, would this be the first fight to be broadcasted in 3D? Wimbledon did it this year and it was amazing how much more to the game/ball spins you could see. Obviously I am unsure of how this would translate into boxing.
All I know is mayweather and goldenboy are holding May 5th for Floyds next fight, Ellerbe says he wants pac and Arum is extemely but hurt cuz he was probably gonna use Cowboys stadium as leverage to get a split in pac's favor or something. As much as I hate Arum he's still a great business man. Put it this way, if Pac and May fought in 09 like we all wanted them to, Pac would've most definitely lost and lost out on millions of dollars due to losing his P4P status. Making arum and Pac less wealthy. Now that pac has generated all this money it should be ok to fight mayweather amd get the last payday of pacs amazing career.
I understand what Arum is saying about locking down dates and venues before negotiation he has a point. BUT at the same time its not like May 5th isn't an ideal date to maximize profits, and the MGM grand is the mecca of boxing. These are ideal dates and venues for the fight. Even though people would watch it no matter what location no matter what date.
