Wlad already had his chance to impress on the big stage with the Haye fight, but unfortunately the fight fell well short of the hype with both men failing to deliver.

Wlad held on any time Haye got near him.

It could have been a decent fight but Wlad refuses to stop holding.

The last time HBO hyped Wlad was for the Ibragimov fight. They made sure he got the promotion in New York, they got him on mainstream TV shows but he threw it all away by fighting like a coward.

Negative, Haye was falling to the canvas every time he got close to Wlad. It was Haye's original "tumbling" defense.

Haye was falling to the ground to stop Wlad from resting his weight onto him.

Both made it a poor fight. There's no way Haye deserves all the blame though.

Total punches thrown: Wlad - 509, Haye - 290. You can tell who did not come to fight.

This:good. The Klitschkos are famous all around the world, less so in America, because for some reason the majority likes to route only for American fighters. The exception being Pac and a little for Sergio starting after the the P.Willims fight. The rest of the fighters are either black Americans or Mexicans and other Latinos. And it shouldn't be that hard to see why the Mexicans get such high views. Their jumping the border every second.

The problem is HBO would like to see them in a competitive fight ( which there hasn't been in years) or up against someone with a following and name recognition, that's not 49yrs old.

This is hard to do because HBO has stopped for the most part in televising the division. Which makes it hard for either of the before mentioned to happen. Or the top ranked guys are from Europe and again, the same applies, they refuse to air their fights.

That's why HBO pushed so hard to make Arreola a star. An American and Mexican. Both the qualifying attributes that get higher views in the states. But they banked on the wrong guy against the Klitschko's

I figure that's what their hoping to do with Seth Mitchell. Show him a few times. Big black ex football player. Get him a few wins and following. Then set up a fight vs the Kbros, where the public at least knows the guys name and face.

And finally Mormeck is not a great challenger and doesn't have much of a hope to win, combine that with HBO's budget being spent already for the year, and the fact the actual names that were credible declined. Not Wlad's fault.

I don't like or hate the Klitschkos and I think Oquendo is boring as hell (although I do think he's been jobbed in a lot of fights). I respect the Klitschkos, but don't particularly enjoy watching Wlad fight. I have no hidden agenda here. Mormeck hasn't been good in years, and he blows at heavyweight. He's fought one decent fighter, who he should have lost to with unbiased judging, and the other two heavyweights he fought were C-level opponents who he barely scraped by.

Oquendo is clearly better than Timur Ibragimov, Friday Ahunanya and Manny Quezada, and I never said he wasn't. What I said was Mormeck didn't legitimately beat Oquendo. Timur, Friday and Quezada are all around the same level though. Other than outworking a 46-year old McCall, he's never beaten a good fighter and has been beaten widely every time he's stepped up.

I understand why this fight was made - the only decent fighter left is Povetkin, who refuses to fight Wlad, so if he's going to fight a prospect or a third-tier fighter anyway, why not fight the guy who can get him the most extra revenue? That's all well and good - it's business - but don't expect a US network with no interest in either fighter to pony up big bucks to carry such an obvious mismatch, especially when there are probably 50 or 60 more competitive matchups out there.

Agree with you Brickhaus, except I enjoy watching the Bro's fight. But there are fights of there's that I wont watch anymore. 1)Ibragimov2)Kevin Johnson. Both cause the guys did nothing but run an defend. Not one ounce.

Jake, although this fight will not be on HBO and maybe the next wont either, the brothers have been shown on the network plenty.

    Wlad: Ws 15(12KOs) Ls 2......................................... Vitali: Ws6(5KOs) Ls 2

Haye- UD win ......................................................... Adamek- TKO10 win
Rahman- KO7 win................................................... Johnson- UD win
    Thompson- KO11 win.............................................. Arreola-RTD10 win
Ibrag- UD win........................................................ Williams-TKO8 win (PPV)
    BrewsterII- RTD win................................................ Sanders-TKO8 win
    Austin- KO2 win ......................................................Johnson-TKO2 win
Brock- TKO7 win..................................................... Lewis- TKO6 lose
    ByrdII- TKO7 win..................................................... Byrd-RTD 9 lose
    Peter- UD win
    Castillo- TKO4 win
    Brewster- TKO5 lose
    Sanders-TKO2 lose
    McCline-RTD10 win
    Mercer-TKO6 win
    Shufford -KO6 win
    Jefferson-KO2 win
    Barret-TKO7 win

Add those up, and consider Vitali retired for 4 years when all of his fights would have been televised, and combine it with the fact the Bros weren't on at all in 2010. That's a lot of fights. Others have been on Showtime as well. With ESPN and EPIX grabbing the scraps, they've been televised in America a lot.

Besides the knockdown that should have been called agaisnt Ibrag, to me it's just hard to watch. I appreciate Wlad's mobility/Agility and ring generalship..Maybe I'll try to watch it again and see how much Ibrag did. I do tape all their fights.

About the only thing I'll watch of the Johnson fight is the last round when Vitali raises his hand and motions with his head to Johnson to look at it and then punches him.

Iggy was an under-appreciated talent, Wlad was simply too much for him, and he knew it so he stepped away. I, for one, was sad to see him go.

Not trying to say he wasn't good, but he did nothing in that fight as i recall. As most of their opponents usually do, the Bros are to much for them.
