ESPN : Gamboa-Rios possible for Jan. 28th.

Yea...I don't see Gamboa handling Rios's power .... or even being able to really bother Rios with his own power. Some featherweights have taken Gamboa's shots and not been that bothered...

 

this seems a little rushed to me.gamboa cant move up that much that fast and be worth a ****.gotta love rios though,the guys tough and comes to fight.this a good fight regardless but cant see gamboa who is a small feather weight beating a huge lightweight.

 

Exactly! The only advantage Rios has against is size and strength. If Gamboa had a few fights at lightweight under his belt, I don't think it would even be close. Brandon Rios is a bit overrated IMHO. He's a crude, straight ahead face first brawler without much technical ability - much like Antonio Margarito. With his speed and technique, Gamboa should be able to box circles around him.

 

Gamboa means nothing to Arum : he only wants the ones that are going to bring in the bread, and unfortunately, it ain't going to be the Cubans. Please, Bob, just die now.

 

i think Arum is talking crazy ****.... Gamboa jumping up 2 weight classes dont make sense.... and a catchweight dont make sense either.... neither are even the undisputed champ for their own weight division! Not going to EVEN believe it till i see it happen and written in stone...

True, but Mosley's frame allowed him to add the weight without major problems. Gamboa, however, is already muscular at 126 so adding another 9 lbs will slow him down considerably...no? Of course, Mancini fought at 135/140 with a similar frame but he was a far better infighter IMO.

 

non sense fight... arum is selling out gamboa, im really pissed about it.
first he got stripped from his IBF belt,now he goes up 2 division to fight the heavy puncher and bigger guy.Non ****ing sense.
gamboa just posted in FB, it looks more serious than what i thought, where the **** is Oner? he is pushing solis to fight this month and he is NOT recovered from his injure and surgery.Pedro Luis wont even go with solis for that fight, pedro luis camp is against this quick come back.And now this **** with gamboa right after switching trainers.

IF this fight happens, im very intrigued to see how gamboa looks against the much bigger rios. however, when rios lands he's gonna hurt the cuban. its an interesting fight that could either be an all out battle or a jump too far for yuri.

 

its amaizing how gamboa is fighting salido,solis, ponce de leon and now a huge Rios (and doesnt even have a title)with barely a couple of dozens of fights and chavez jr( who somehow carries a "title") with almost 50 fights keeps fighting bums.Arum should jump into boiling oil.
