Popkins, I don't think Toney will be a member of the hall of fame in 2016. Sadly, I see him continuing on for a few more years at the least. As long as he can get fights, no matter how big or small, he'll probably accept them. Hate to say that too, because he's suffered so much neurological damage from a quarter-century of exchanging blows.

 

I came here to eat my crow. Never thought I'd see the day when Toney would be dominated like that but the weight loss affected him and it just wasn't his night. I will give Lebedev his credit and hope for the best for him. Hopefully Toney calls it a career as he's had a great one. I didn't see the fight and honestly probably never will but I hope Toney hangs em up as he already is punch drunk and has been for years.

 

Yeah well **** happens.

He still had most of his slickness but he just couldn’t pull the trigger when he got openings.
Many times I could see that he saw the openings but just couldn’t capitalize.

Frustrating match to watch but JT is still a legend and going in to HOF.
I hope he enjoys his retirement and don’t fight in world level any more

Most? His defense looked really average today. He still rolls with some punches, but that only takes a bit of the impact off. He's still getting hit with them. I saw a lot of Lebedev straight lefts connect on the side of the head and on the chin. Had Lebedev stepped it up and increased his activity rate, I think you'd see that Toney doesn't have most of the slickness he used to. If he had to fight off of the ropes now, he'd get clobbered.

Yeah it was terrible to watch. But I think his defense did really suffer, because he couldn’t pull the trigger in counter punches. Lebedev could continue barrage without fear of accurate counter punch cutting him off.

But yeah his defense wasn’t as good that it was but it still was his strong point.
