    Hey man as difficult to read as some of scraps ramblings may be, if you can get to a stage where you do understand them youll be tapping in to a wealth of knowledge from a truly innovative trainer!

    Yeah I'm an accredited weightlifting coach (olympic lifting). Olympic lifts are great and can definitely help a boxer if they're advanced and want to get the last little drop out of themselves, it'll certainly help with rate of force development. Getting a boxer or any athlete to learn to do them with decent technique can be difficult though, and how many boxers are going to understand how to periodise and incorporate them into their training? Probably end up doing more harm than good.
    If you are relatively weak and not competing soon then Strength training with heavy weights could definitely help if you know what you're doing and why you're doing it; and most importantly when to stop.
    If you've been boxing for a while or have been any sort of an athlete for a while you'll probably have the strength that is required for boxing, it's not a strength sport.
    Weights are no more beneficial than going out and running 10kms for boxing, they'll help if you have somebody who hasn't trained before but otherwise any sort of difference they make to boxing is going to be negligible and most likely a psychological boost if anything.
    If you want to do extra work that will supplement your boxing then do sessions combining balance work with plyometrics if you want bang for your buck and extra bang for your opponents :D

    That's good functional strength training that would certainly help the nervous system fire up, like a heavy deadlift or squat would.
    Track athletes include those heavy slow weights for that reason, in a track event milliseconds make a huge difference over 100, 200, 400 metres. So they do everything they can, in boxing all that counts is each individual punch, it's a discrete movement, not continuous. So maximising strength isn't going to make a noticeable difference in boxing, you don't have 10,20,40 seconds to make a millisecond difference to the result like in running events.
    The track athletes are also going to be doing their more important stuff like plyometrics and technique training with their periodised program.
    If including something like that improved their times to a noticeable difference then they must be immature athletes.

    I'm exaggerating the numbers to make a point obviously. You have practical, useful information for the average guy. You'd make a great personal trainer. When it comes to finetuning an athlete, nah. You don't seem to understand how things match up, you don't understand all the different factors that come into play.
    Severely lacking strength - I mean a level of strength that is affecting sports performance negatively. Different for every sport and every person. That's why I took exception to you saying every pro athlete should be able to do this____ . A very uneducated thing to say.
