I'm convinced that Vitali would beat pretty much every heavyweight in history(other than LL of course). However, in terms of accomplishments, Wlad accomplished more than Vitali and so have a host of other heavyweights. In other words, H2H Vitali is a beast. In terms of greatness....Vitali is meh.

He'd certainly have a good chance against any heavyweight of the past.

But as you said, that's not what greatness is all about. His accomplishments are mediocre at best. His career defining fight was a loss to an old overweight great.

I'm a Klitschko supporter who can't stand ****ing Klit huggers. Each and everyone of them may die in a fire. They won't be missed.

 

If we are talking head to head match ups....prime Vitali stands a VERY good chance of winning against anyone in history.

Some people use head to head, and some use accomplishments when discussing fighters and where they stand all time.
Myself, I always use head to head, because a fighter can only fight those willing and available to fight. And they can't
get in a time machine. That's not the fighter's fault, so no reason to hold it against them, imo.

Of course others have their own opinions....but Vitali definitely is right up there. As to who is the greatest, that's all up for debate, and always will be.

People always think a good chin and punching power means a fighter is a head to head beast. That's not the case. Vitali has awful technique and he'd get shown up against any great fighter. He doesn't beat one great fighter more than 5/10.
