Super ****ing bummed. I am supposing he is too old or or it's too advanced for a transplant. Otherwise, this is hard one to beat. Just hoping they are keeping him as comfortable as possible. A great one, no doubt. Thoughts and prayers.
No matter how tought any one is, a sickness will always brings them to near death. Sorry it happen to Frazier, one of my all time favorite fighters, Loved the first fight with Ali, perhaps his best. But my prays are for Frazier and his family. One of the all time greats.
Even the best of us are just made of mortal materials, bone and muscle and sinew. These will always betray us. It's a man's spirit that really endures. And Joe demonstrated that spirit as well as any fighter who ever got in the ring. It's the highest compliment to him to say he did more with less than any heavy in the history of the sport, because once the muscle and bone are gone, that part of him which made him succeed, that will and that spirit, will live in the memory of us all.
I was at a party with Frazier, Holmes and many back in the early 90's in Atlantic City, Frazier a very nice guy and the scariest man in the room although there were a few taller, Joe was stocky and square but not the type it would be smart to mess with.
One of my all-time favorites. I had the opportunity to meet him back in '85 - a real nice, classy gentleman. So shocked and sorry to hear this news. My prayers and thoughts are with this great warrior and his family. Keep punchin' champ!
This news makes me very sad. My grandfather's brother used to see him in the 70s and 80s in Philly quite a bit and used to chat with him frequently. In the mid 90s Frazier was getting off of a flight and saw my grandfather's brother and approached him and asked him how things were going and so on, even though it had been a good 7-10 years since they last saw eachother. That shows a lot about Frazier's character, he remembered and cared enough to go and see how my grandfather's brother was doing, even though they were mere acquaintances in the 70s and 80s. I really hope Frazier pulls out one last tough performance and beats cancer.
It was sickening to hear. He'll fight it head on. He knows no other way. Good luck Joe. Always a Champion.
