Steve Molitor vs. Sebastien Gauthier is entering the 7th round on the undercard in Quebec, live on BoxNation. The Showtime broadcast starts in forty five minutes and includes Pier Oliver Cote vs. Jorge Luis Teron (could be a FOTY candidate, honestly) and then the main event. Gauthier is really roughing Molitor up from the look of it, getting inside with his center of gravity low and slamming his arms up against Molitor's throat. Both are bleeding from different spots on their faces. Molitor is trying to box backing up but having a difficult time keeping Gauthire at bay. The commentators have Gauthier just ahead.
Cote is very skilled and sharp but has been dragged into brawls by lesser opponents, and Teron is a brawler who only knows one direction: forward.
Maybe. If so it would have to be right after this one in progress, because Showtime is starting its broadcast at 9pm EST.
Gauthier is pressuring relentlessly, and smacking Molitor with some looping rights. Both continue to bleed badly from the cuts on their faces. Both men have their bodies, trunks and gloves soaked with their own blood and that of their opponents. Molitor is fending off Gauthier with movement and a jab but getting walked down and whacked pretty consistently. I'd say Gauthier won the two rounds I've seen (seventh and eighth) on aggression and forcing the style of the fight.
Round 9 Gauthier is banging the body, but Molitor catches him with a sweet counter right hook while backing up to the ropes. Gauthier uses his arms to haul Molitor back into the ropes and then bangs away down low. Gauthier keeps grabbing Molitor and tossing him about like a ragdoll, smashing the body before Molitor can get his legs under him. Molitor tries his damndest to turn it back into a boxing match, sliding back and jabbing or throwing a southpaw 1-2. Gauthier runs him down and wings shots up at him while ducking in. They trade hooks, Gauthier's left getting in the way of Molitor's right. Straight combo by Gauthier, pushing Molitor to the ropes. Big counter left uppercut by Molitor standing his ground, but Gauthier is all over him and lands a left hook to the chin. 10-9 Gauthier 30-27 Gauthier from rounds 7-9 (no idea how the first six went, but the commentators say it's been close)
