I hope someone from Boxnation is reading this thread because if they continue to allow Duke McKenzie to commentate then I won't be suscribing on the 30th November. The man was knee-deep in his own semen from the opening bell to the last. Instead of simply calling the action, he was content on telling us how much he admired Bute for 12 rounds. He also failed to acknowledge any single shot landed by Glen Johnson. Jabs and right hands did get through, but the commentators were far too busy sucking Bute dry to notice.

In regards to the main event, congratulations to both Glen Johnson and Lucian Bute. They failed to put on a exciting fight where shots were being landed with regularity, but they both gave us 12 rounds of competitive action. The operative word being "competitive". If you missed the fight, don't let the score totals fool you. Bute was a worthy winner but he didn't have it entirely his own way. Both fighters were fairly reluctant, and not one flush shot thrown with any conviction was landed at any time during the 12 rounds. I perhaps expected more from Lucian Bute, to be honest.

    They did? :?

I mean, I totally agree with you that clean shots for both were few and far between...but it literally took Johnson four or five rounds to get into double digits on even glancing touches.

    Yes, they did.

Arguing about it would be pointless unless we could both sit in the same room and watch the fight together. Johnson almost certainly landed with jabs, certainly late in the fight, but none of this was acknowledged by the commentary team. I was absolutely disgusted.

I was dumb-founded. Johnson was competitive in practically every round from where I was sitting.

Johnson definitely did land late. Through four rounds, however, he landed almost nothing. Virtually all his jabs and rights to the body fell short in the early going.

It wasn't the type of 119-109 domination where one guy beats the hell out of the other all night; it was a very polite affair with lots of missing both ways, but Bute just that little bit more accurate early (and increasing his power output late, as did Johnson to a lesser extent).

I'm sure you would be as dumbfounded as I if you were exposed to the Boxnation commentary, IB. I'm not campaigning for the decision to be reversed. Bute won the fight, but it wasn't as wide or as one-sided as Duke McKenzie was leading me and the viewers to believe. I'm not exaggerating. He barely acknowledged one shot that got through on the part of Johnson. I'm seriously considering emailing Boxnation about the issue. I'm not paying for this kind of coverage.

I got the coverage in French from a Quebec station and found the commentary well balanced.

I scored the fight a shut-out, while the French commentators gave Glen the fifth.

(If I was being generous, I could give him the fifth and perhaps the 12th, but I feel Bute won them both).

The 120-108 score, while on the mark, does not tell the complete story as the rounds were not walkovers. But Bute beat the dude more decisively than Froch did.

BTW, better than usual avatar !

I can't comment on the Quebec coverage.

    Nice input.

You must think Froch is garbage then since he went life and death with Glen.

Addie how much more do you expect from Bute. He won 120-108 on two referee's scorecards. Johnson has never been Knocked-Out in almost 70 fights. Froch had more trouble than Bute against him, Bute was never hurt like Froch was in the 8th.

in fact he tries to hide the fact that froch is garbage by making johnson look better than he realy is.johnson went to war with froch and 4 months later won 1 round with bute, nuff said

I thought being the much bigger and fresher man, he could have pushed to land some fight-changing shots. I certainly expected him to seriously pick it up during the last few rounds.

Don't get me wrong, Bute is clearly among the best fighters currently campaigning at 168lbs.

I wasn't overly impressed with Froch's performance against Johnson either.
