Anyone else feel that Katsidis should pack it in?

Im not usually one to call for a world class fighter's retirement immediately after a defeat, but I think its time for Katsidis to call it a day on his exciting and memorable career.

Hes been in hard fight after hard fight, with little break in between, and taking nothing away from Burns win, he seems slightly worn and past it by now. I wouldnt enjoy see him taking beating after beating just to become a well known name on an up and comer's resume. He's fought at too high a level for that.

He could retire now, with his health intact, satisfied that he fought the very best out there, maximised his potential, and proved himself to be one of the most exciting and bravest fighters of his generation.

 

Yep. I'm not usually in favour of kneejerk decisions but I think it'd be a good place to end it. The way he fights means that if he carries on he'll probably take some bad beatings.

 

He has to go now, his style does not age a fighter well. He has had his and some ****er else's share of war's and he deserves to leave the sport. Wish him all the best for the memories I have but he must hang up the gloves.

 

Yep, He's got a family and that's close to home for him. He's not the same fighter sorry if anyone disagree's but that's not the same fighter. He looks worn mentally and physically..

 

Maybe a homecoming/goodbye fight to see him off in style. Thanks for the memories kats!!!! :good

 

he needs to match himself up well vs a lower calibre of fighter/ stylistically aswell.

 

It is time to call it a day,he is still considered world class and with good reason.Tonight thought in my opinion should be his last outing.
Nothing against Burns,he is getting better all the time but Kats tonight looked old.I feel he should pack it in.

 

Styles make fights, & I told anyone here who would listen that Kats was made for Ricky. Martinez was the blueprint, simple as. Hardly rocket science.
Its just that Kat fever took over the place, mixed with some mad assumption that Martinez was suddenly a bum, I actually laughed at the amount of people picking against Burns for this one.

However, Rickys face was a swollen mess after the fight, & Ricky admitted himself Kat inflicted the damage after a round!!!

So please folks, stop dissing Ricky Burns & just admit he had the style & guts to beat Katsidis on points, & less of the Kat must quit talk, cos it just looks like sore loser excuses, IMO:deal

Katsidis will be back, just like Martinez. Stop being such bad ****in losers

 

Yep. What on earth was up with his right hand. Has he injured it or can he not throw a straight right to save his life

 

It's amazing Kats hasn't been around that long but he's brought so much joy.

 

His fights with Marquez, Earl, Amonsot and Casamayor and others will always be remebered by boxing fans.

His emergence as a true warrior was definitely the amonsot fight. Cut to shreds and still he found a way to win:

if hes the ntype that needs a win, an easy fight in aus wuld be a great way to finish.

He could make a decent living having softer fights in Oz for a few years.

 

I agree, he should retire to be honest, he looked like a shot fighter in there tonight in my opinion, not taking anything away from Burns' great performance but Katsidis was nowhere near as dangerous as he used to be.

I think the beatings he took from Marquez and Guererro have completely destroyed him
