Kirkland is wide open up the middle and Pacquiao can take advantage of this by keeping him off balance and reaching through movement and then time him with full-leverage straight left hands. Kirkland isn't faster of hand than Barrera or Marquez. Barrera's counterpunching combination on Paulie Ayala was pretty damn quick. He does advance pretty quickly early though on his feet and there's no disputing the strength side of things. I'll tell you one thing...even though I would put my money on Manny, I'd be nervous as hell from start to finish. Kirkland is no joke for these guys now. Do you think Kirkland could give Mayweather any trouble at 154?

I wouldn't go as far as to say Pac KOs the man, but Kirkland is just a contender as it is right now, he hasn't even won a world title and his sole loss came not too long ago. Angulo hasn't even won a title, just another solid contender himself, who fell short. Kirkland has showed in his previous loss and in this victory, he has some serious problems going forward and getting 1 dimensional and not watching out for punches.

Fighters like Pac or May would slice him up with their movement, and they are both great with counters and thrive off of aggressive fighters. Just going with Pac here, the only fighters to give him trouble in the recent past were also highly skilled counter-punchers who could time him and make him pay. Kirkland is neither. Mosely, Margarito, and Cotto hit nearly or just as hard as Kirkland and have much more experience and are much better movers. So being just big and strong isn't going to be enough and led to the downfall of the aforementioned boxers.

Kirkland could beat Pac in a few years if he develops his head movement and defense going forward. As of new he is a solid contender and has a few leaps and bounds before getting to the top of his game.

 

Styles. Shane was moving back focused entirely on survival. A quick puncher with power who goes up the middle can turn an aggressive defensively challenged fighter's forward-advancing against him.
