Bute toyed with Glen ...i have said it before this dude is the best super mid. weight in the world and is only getting better... Froch could give him some probs but with his style he would slap the Sh%$ out of Ward...:yep

He played around with Glen and had no respect for him cuz he already new he could beat him and so did Glen from their sparring :deal

I still favour both Froch and Ward, though Bute did impress me, for the first time.

The top 6 SMW would all beat glen Johnson on a wide UD decision oh wait two already did what Bute did is nothing new if anything it's an even further nothing left Johnson now.It doesn't tell us much about anything really as most of the other probably wide UD decision glen 10/10.

Completely different fight for Bute when he faces ward with that fast jab and reflexes or Froch with that stand off long jab style.
With the greatest of respect to froch he's not exactly slick but Glen Johnson almost managed to make him look slick.

I just don't see that toughness in Bute that I see in Ward Froch Kessler I just feel like Bute is fully capable of folding when he starts getting hit, Saiko Bika remains Butes best win.

Bute is definitely the fastest SMW AND probably has the most power too. This combination makes him something very special! A fight between him and Calzaghe would have been awesome!

WTF... how can you know this after last night? He fought an old Glencoffe whom Ward would have smacked the **** out of.

I've been saying this for a while. Ward would be a tough fight though.

KOTV already calls this guy the best super middleweight in the world. And when you look at it objectively, he has as much right to call himself that than Ward or Froch. Those 3 are the best, with little doubt. Let's hope they do eventually all fight each other and the question gets settled properly.

I like Bute, he is one of my favourite active fighters, but lets not get carried away too much.
Bute beat an old G Johnson coming off a loss who at SMW was never more than a tough journeyman/gatekeeper. Johnson was 0-5 in his last 5 world title attempts.

Just a note on G Johnsons SMW career -
In 14 SMW fights Johnson has lost 8 of them.
Johnson has lost at SMW to -

M Sosa who had 5 losses and 2 draws, and lost his next 2 fights after beating Johnson
Kiwanuka who had 3 losses and 2 draws, had lost his last 2 fights coming into his fight with Johnson and his fight after Johnson
Ottke 16-0 IBF champ who in fairness was an outstanding SMW boxer
Vanderpool 27-1 who lost his next fight, but in fairness that was at MW to Hopkins and Vanderpool had a good run after
Branco 38-4-2 who was a world class SMW and became WBA LHW champ
Sheika who was 19-1 and lost his next fight, though in fairness that was to Calzaghe.
    Froch 27-1 WBC champ
    Bute 29-0 IBF champ

The SMWs that Johnson has managed to beat
Campas 3-20-4 coming off of only 2 losses and won his next fight
Watson 24-16-1, Johnson was his last fight
Renteria 9-23-5 coming in, whos last 10 fight record before facing Johnson was 0-8-2
Zimmerman 15-2-0 coming in, who had lost his previous fight and the one after
A Green 29-2-0 coming in and Johnsons biggest SMW victory

Its not impressive now is it. Please spare me the robbery talk.
If any rated SMW losses to Johnson it wont look good on their resume

A Green 29-2-0 coming in and Johnsons biggest SMW victory To think beating Green was all Johnson had to do to become a Ring rated SMW in todays ratings. Shows that the division isnt as strong as it once was.

Now I think Bute would beat Ward also, but at this time I would question whether any of the current crop would have beaten many of the previous generations SMWs, like Eubank, Benn, Collins, Ottke etc. No none of them would have beaten Calzaghe but at this time many of them are no further on than the likes of Reid, Woodhall, Beyer etc.

I do think Bute can call himself the #1 SMW of now though

Bute's the best SMW , no doubt , he has a good body , boxing intelligence , one K.O punch , best footwork in the business , slickness , good chin etc . He fought intelligent and he dominated Johnson almost every round ! Also Johnson was very cautios with throwing his right hand ! I would like to see Bute fighting with Froch or Kessler ...... also I wish Froch to win the s6 final ..... ward is a hype ! If Bute will unify all 3 titles ( wbc, wba, ibf ) .... and after to have a fight with Kessler for the wbo, then he can go at light heavyweight and have some fights with : Hopkins,Pascal,Dawson,Cloud ........ IF will happen .......

I think Bute would be a horrible fight for Ward. I think Ward would be so tentative to throw because Bute could counter him all day. Bute is very clever when he shows you the body on purpose, he wants you to step in and jab to it, while his left hand is hid on the other guys blindside. The uppercut is so lethal, comes from below his hip and he doesn't really need much space to throw it accurately. Ward would have trouble tying him up too because his footwork is very subtle and quick so when he has been pressed back he is always dictating range and never lets the other guy smother him.

That is one of the resons Johnson gave Bute so much respect and didn't press forward the same way he usually does that people aren't acknowledging. I agree with what you said in that his footwork alone is good enough to dictate the range but worse than that, if you're a opponent, is that he wants you to try and come to him so that he can take that little half step back and counter you with his uppercut to the body or head, sometimes followed by that right hook which in recent fights has showed to be dangerous too. Getting on the inside vs Bute is like try to walk through a minefield.

Ward beat Kessler when he was considered the best smw'er, Froch beat Taylor, Abraham, Dirrell, Pascual and lost a close decision againt Kessler. Bute beat Andrade over two fights and Glencoffe in his last (his two best wins). Andrade who was schooled by Kessler before he fought Bute and Glencoffe who is 42 and has lost 15 fights.

I'm not saying Bute can't beat Ward, Froch or Kessler, but these guys have fought and beat better opposition then Bute so far. When you look at it objectively the S6 winner will rightfully be crowned the best SMW...
