In the light of the new thread about Jeffries v Wlad head to head, how does the Forum see Wlad coping with Jeffries title challengers?

    1st challenger .Tom Sharkey . 26. 5' 8 " 183lbs. 21-6-1. Rough and tough, come forward slugger.

    2nd challenger. John Finnegan No D. O .B . 6' 180lbs.4-2-4 . No description of style [unknown]

    3rd challenger. Jim Corbett . 33. 6 ' 1" 188lbs.10-2-3 Stand up , mobile, clever boxer.

    4th challenger.Hank Griffin . 29. 6' 2/3" 180lbs , long range defensive boxer.

5th challenger. Joe Kennedy. 31. 6' 2" 190/210lbs Strong but not skilled scrapper.

6th challenger. Gus Ruhlin. 28. 6' 2" 190/200lbs. Decent boxer ,with decent power.

7th Challenger. Bob Fitzsimmons 39. 5' 11 3/4"172lbs ,Crafty punch picker with exceptional power.

    8th Challenger.Jim Corbett. 36. 6'1" 183lbs,still a clever boxer ,but now, not very mobile.

9th Challenger. Jack Munroe. 26. 5'11" 186lbs*, [I have used box-rec's weight because of previous weights for Munroe]. Not really a contender given a title shot, on bally hoo, hype ,and false expectations.

Well, How does Wlad do with them? Say 15rds?

He loses to all of them in the first round by knockout.

He would dispatch them over a weekend.

I don't think any of those would even be hired as sparring partners.

I think we need to be a little realistic here. Vlad towers over these men and has cosiderable advantages in reach and weight....and probably skill as well. He was also probably more well schooled boxing wise from a young age as far as amateur experience on up through the professional ranks and has an excellent trainer and tactician in his corner to boot. I say all this even though I don't aspire to the theory that modern fighters are inherently better...But in this case I'll make an exception. We have to draw a line somewhere and I think we need to break out some chalk here.

Okay....all I said was "Sharkey would be tough".....He was a tough guy, and sometimes a very dirty fighter....

These men all possessed a toughness that came from there era that does not exist today, However Wlad a disciple of modern science and technique and size should beat then all inside of 1 - 10 rds if the fight goes beyond 12 Vlad may have issues but this is doubtful...

They all can and would crack Wlad pretty hard at some stage. Whether that is enough to break the chin is the question. The smaller gloves definitely wouldnt help Wlad and either would the rules that keep the fight going despite three knock downs.

true the smaller gloves would not help Vlad getting hit but it would also not help his opponents getting hit by his alien rockets.....Vlad is in an advanced era of boxing technique, Olympic and professional experience and with about 60 fights under his belt at a fit 245 and 6'6 and my guess is this should be something he can handle without having to worry about the 3 knockdown rule

Wlad would knock out Fitz, Sharkey, Ruhlin, Finnegan, Kennedy, Munroe in 1-2 rounds each. Corbett might last 10-11 but he would be broken down and finished.

He'd have a much harder time with Burns, Ketchel, the corpse of Jeffries, Flynn and Moran for sure ...

Ah! Jeffries second string defender surfaces.

In case you missed it,[not unusual], the motive for the thread is because one has been made putting Jeffries v Wlad head to head.

Not to try and denigrate Jeffries. [If I wanted to do that |I would have jumped on the bandwagon in the thread about him being uppercut by Johnson].

I've also made one reversing their places ,with Jeffries defending against Wlad's last 9 challengers.

Dear me, you read one book on Jim Jeffries and off you go on your crusade, should we steal ourselves for your next
cavalry charge when you finish another of Pollack's books?
