I always thought Katsidis was mismanaged and handled wrong. What you do with someone like Katsidis is put him in fights with guys just below word level, fights were he's got a better chance of winning so he doesn't get ruined quickly. He's always gonna create a action packed fight. He could've fought 5 or 6 more Amonsots, made good money and still have that cult following. They did that with Gatti for the most part and he was a better fighter then Katsidis, but great credit to him for travelling around the world taking on the best.

I dont get the calls for Katsisdis too retire? He forced the face, was relentless in his attack, was just lacking a bit in ideas when Burns just chose to cover up rather than return fire and provide openings.
Physically Katsidis still has it, but I agree in as much as you wouldnt want to see him take any more Guerrero/Marquez type beatings, but no harm in a 2nd fight with Kevin Mitchell, or a fight with John Murray after he gets beaten by Rios.

Katsidis has been great for the sport, he is over the hill and has took alot of punishment in his career.

No offence to Burns, but Mick would be blasting this guy out in 2 or 3rds 18 months ago....... The JMM and Guerrero fights took his heart and soul, he looks and talks like Rocky Balboa these days.

When Mitchell beats Burns it will prove my point.

I agree. Took too many beatings. No disrespect to Burns he deserved the win but when a man of Kats calibre gets outboxed by a dude like Burns its time to say goodbye. What a warrior.

His days as a top quality challenger are numbered IMO. From where I was sitting, he seemed to have lost a step or two, not really able to close the distance as effectively as he once did, even tho Burns was stationary.

I have no problems with him fights lesser guys in Oz mind.

He's done at the top level.

Could he knock over a few Thai's or Aussies and retire with a few easy wins? Certainly, and he deserves to.

But he's lost a lot of his reflexes and snap and looked a shadow of his former self. Good win and performance by Ricky, but it showed up the deterioration of Katsidis physical attributes.

This talk of kats being shot just because burns out boxed him is pretty pathetic

Whether he retires or not is obviously going to be dependent on what level he wants to fight at and how his financial standing is. Considering the level hes fought at these last few years he may not want easy fights. But as a few posters here have already said he certainly would deserve to have some easy fights in front of his home fans, making good money. I myself think he should pack it altogether, but I would understand him taking more easy fights.

Katsidis is the most shot I've ever seen a fighter, 'Danny Williams' shot, Burns' win over him means nothing.

btw im taking not trying to take anything away from Burn's win over Katsidis, I dont think he was completely shot last night. But hes been in a lot of hard fights, and hes obviously had some wear and tear, he doesnt look as effective as he once was.

Still an excellent win for ricky, and it should make his stock rise considerably.
