Remember the ref kept Kirkland down against Ishida?

dude was going to keep getting dropped. it would have gotte comical.

 

That whole 'Ishida dodged a bullet' stuff is nonsense. It takes credit away from Ishida, who simply handled himself very well. He was a big underdog, and rather than being intimidated he went in there and boxed with a real sense of purpose. He stayed on the outside, timed Kirkland coming in, didn't get too excited when he dropped him, and rather than smothering his own work he stayed at an effective distance and paused between shots before unleashing again, showing controlled aggression.

 

I've sparred a man who could take it, but many times got knocked down due to his knees buckling, but.. not once was he incoherent or unable to fight on.

I think this is the case with James Kirkland.

 

That has happened to me once back in the day when I use to spar. It was kind of comical to me. The opponent hit me with a few shots and my legs just went on me. Prior to going down to one knee, I started telling my knees in my mind, "wait, wait, wait, what are you doing". I got up immediately and finished the sparring match. True Hollywood Story.

 

Like I've said many times, Joe Cortez tackled James as he tried to get up. He was as hurt as I am when I bump my elbow on a table. He was also in completely garbage shape in the Ishida fight

 

He was fresh out of prison for the Ishida loss and did not have the trainer that made him. He was probably just fighting for money taking fights back to back like that.

 

Sounds like you want to trim Ishida's ball hairs. If they fight 20 more times James probly wins every time. Not without Coach Wolf

 

He would have gotten dropped again and made a record of how many times a boxer can get dropped. Remember, HBO fed Kirkland to Ishida so no excuses. Let him rematch Ishida so Ishida can earn a decent payday and prove if it was a fluke or not. Funny thing how some posters are now saying Ann Wolfe is one of the top trainers. Where are her champions? It's funny, prior to the fight, Kirkland was a overrated fighter due to losing to Ishida. Now, he is a beast. I would like to see a Angulo rematch for more fireworks.

 

I know If im Ishida I dont take a re-match! Ishida should brag to all his friends that he Knocked out a monster in 1 round!

 

I'm with you, but if he wants to be on HBO agian and make another decent payday, why not a rematch. Then his friends can see him win or lose on HBO and they can help Ishida spend the money.

 

Ishida would have but him down again. Probably. We saw what Marquez did with Pacquiao so there was a possibility.

you should accept that kirkland is better than ishida and nobuhiro got lucky.

 

JK was weight drained and had no legs for the Ishida fight...when your that weak, you can knock YOURSELF out..

That's not luck.

 

I haven't even followed Ishida's career -- I know nothing about him except for what he did against Kirkland. His physical abilities and skill didn't strike me as being special or exceptional either...I just think he should get credit for doing so well in a fight where everyone seemed to completely write him off. Putting all the blame on Kirkland for that loss is a bit unfair to the guy who went in there and knocked him down three times within a round. Kirkland didn't help matters by fighting stupidly (charging in with a leaky defence) but Ishida was the one who used his reach effectively and boxed calmly enough to take advantage of the openings.
