http://www.thesweetscience.com/news/articles/13224-virgil-hunter-qwe-are-going-to-stop-carl-frochqmarkarian RM: What about Bute? VH: Bute will come in time. Bute should fight Froch, Dirrell, and some of the other top contenders in the division. Bute is a great fighter. I am not minimizing him at all. But in all fairness he should at least satisfy the fans with fights against Froch or Andre Dirrell. Right now the fans don’t know that he belongs. They could only base it off of the competition that he has fought. You want the fans to believe that he truly belongs based on who he beat. Right now both participants, Andre (Ward) or Bute, are not going to get what they deserve if they fight each other. If Bute beats Froch, Dirrell, and Abraham you will have a hot fight with Andre Ward.
Andre Ward didnt fight Dirrell but Bute must fight him to be worthy for Ward. **** OFF Virgil Hunter.
Ya his Kessler win is slightly better than Bute's best but after that Bute's resume is much stronger than Ward's and 2x as deep including 2 common opponents with Bute beating both much easier and Bute stops his opponents as opposed to boring ugly decision wins. Seems obvious to me that Hunter and Ward both see things in Bute that they realize will present problems for Andre and make it a high risk fight and want to avoid fighting him if possible. This is completely unfounded & unsupported speculation on my part but i would not be shocked if one of Ward/Hunter/Goosen's demands was that Bute not be invited. Showtime wanted 3 Americans and 3 Europeans and Bute fought out of Canada, Froch and Kessler were obvious, but i bet they pushed for AA rather than Bute as the 3rd guy. AA is also promoted by Sauerland right so him and Kessler means 2 guys with one less promoter being involved.
You have to consider Kessler's health at the time. If you don't, why do you want to make a Ward-Kessler 2? If Kessler was at his best, he'll get his ass beaten again. If he was not, that's not a so good win for Ward. That's the way I understand it. That doesn't take anything away from Kessler. He had not enough sparring before that fight and I suspect his eyes were already injured. My personal bet, unless Kessler himself talked about it.
I take it by facevalue. I do the same for Johnson. Otherwise I'd have to take Johnsons claim of an injured right hand into the equation. Point taken though. Did you have a good experience at the fight? It looked as if there was a terrific athmosphere. Bute is exceptionnally popular I must say. And did you see Christian Bladt getting blitzed by Bizier? I hope he retires now.
I'm taking into account that Kessler had eye problems in camp for that fight which were made worse by headbutts. Also Ward's stiff arming, excessive clinching and headbutts which all provided a unfair tactical advantage courtesy of his hometown ref so that diminishes the victory in my eyes. BtW i was looking over Kessler's resume and while i'm already familiar with his career it is still suprising how weak it actually is considering how many fights he has. After Froch his next best win is either Beyer/Mundine/Andrade then Lucas after them. After that a big drop with Sartison Haussler and beyond that the guys aren't even worth noting like Thysse, Porras, etc. edit Laffie - i have read or seen a interview where Kessler says his eye problems started around the Perdamo/Ward time period and that in camp for Ward it was an issue. Can't provide it atm as i didn't save it but i'm positive about reading or listening to that in a interview. edit Bat - Bute injured his hand too he just didn't cry about it. I take everything into account otherwise one would think Williams schooled Lara, you have to.
Kessler took the zeros from Froch, Andrade, Sartison. He beat a string of former and future champions and fought on his opponents hometurf on several occasions including a trip around the world to face then highly touted Anthony Mundine despite 2 herniated discs in his back. Weak resume? Lol. Not many present day fighters can trump it. Eyeinjured: You are correct. I've read the same thing.
The pic I've seen of Bute's hand looks little different than what most fighters hands looks like after 12 rounds. You have to take into account that Kessler's losses has come in his opponents backyard and that he was badly injured both times. Had he fought Calzaghe in Copenhagen and had he not broken his hand 3 weeks before the fight, I'm sure he'd have won a couple of rounds more and then it would have been a win. What would have happened if Kessler wasn't injured against Ward and if there was a hometown referee in Copenhagen? I tell you Ward would have been DQ'ed before round 5. Suddenly Kessler has the all-time-greatest resumé in the division. So if you play consistenly you have to take that into account please.
Bute's trumps it although Kessler's #1 win is better. Bute has beat more high quality SMW's. Perdamo, Nievas are the only wins Sartison had so his 0 is meaningless althought his post Kessler wins over Bozic and Gevor show he isn't a bum. You don't get it. I don't re-write history i just try to be as objective as possible when considering the true measure of things. Lara-williams i would re-write history and consider it a Lara win but that's an exception for a rare example. Froch-Dirrell is a Froch win but was a fight that could arguably gone either way so if i'm comparing to Bute-Bika let's say where a pretty green Bute schooled him, coming off a hard fight with Calzaghe, i rate the Bika win higher h2h against the Dirrell win. Im not taking the win away from Froch just being objective as possible. Kessler-Ward i don't rate it as highly as you would at face value for reasons explain. So h2h against Froch-Pascal, Kessler-Froch, Bute-Johnson wins it doesnt completely overshadow those wins by comparison. It's better but not as much as it looks on paper.
Bladt did well in the circumstance , look like nice guy :good just sad peoples was Booing him but he laugh at it :good
the fighter has said since signing a three fight deal that he would like to meet the winner of the Super Six and do so in New York City. “Right now it is Lucian’s dream,” said Bedard, “He fought in Romania, he fought in Montreal and Quebec, right now he wants to go to the U.S. For us it makes more sense right now to go to New York than Atlantic City. Right now we’re focussed on the winner or at least of the two guys.” “We’re going there December 17th hoping the winner will challenge us publicly,” said Larouche, “But we do have some doubts.” Jean Bédard words
If I was Bute , I would talk with Showtime to give me the microphone at the end of the Super Six final. And ask Ward or Froch(especially big ego Cobra) "Are You Scared Of Me ?" If they say No. "Then that means we're gonna fight".
