I thought he would get good coverage in the Scottish Newspapers,is`s a disgrace if he is tucked away deep in to the sports pages.
I've said this a few times on here, I'll say it again, Boxnation will not succeed! If people don't its there when its free, how the **** will people watch it they have to pay? ****** left Sky because of PPV being cut (being a hypocrite when he slammed Khan for leaving for Primetime) and this set up to actually make more money in theory. 4-5 PPV on sky: bout £75 max? 12 months BN: £120 We would of had 80% of these fights on Sky anyway, the only extra stuff is like Lebedev-Toney, Huck, German cards really. I don't like this for my fave sport, sorry.
We're getting the German cards, Russian cards, American cards, Extra British cards and weekly Bunce hours. You don't like way more Boxing being televised over here? I do.
always one to look at the negatives I hope that once it does go to subscription that we don't get served up shite fights and cards since the launch it has been really good and I hope it stays that way.
I don't like the way fans are now expected to pay more and more again, this is forcing Boxing into the real outer circles. This will kill boxing completely, I swear it, people are blind to the fact this will not break even and create terrible damage on careers and TV future! I always think in the long run, so many don't!
BN is no doubt good for us hardcore fans in the short-term but, weighing everyone up, I'm still against it. For the good of the sport we simply need boxing on terrestrial in the long term. Tyson Fury on 5 is a good step forward, Box Nation is a step backwards. Boxing on Sky in the 1990s was parasiting on the exposure boxing used to have on terrestrial which made guys like Hamed and Eubank massive stars. At least Sky in the 2000s has given massive publicity drives to the guys it thinks can be stars like Hatton and Haye. BN simply doesn't have the clout to do that. If Burns-Katsidis was on Channel 5 and well promoted it could have done 2 million viewers. How many do you think it got on Box Nation? 150,000? Maybe much less...and that's the future of the game if we back BN...
Froch was having a great time out in Primetime wasn't he? Thats why no one knows who he is! People like Billy Joe Saunders will probs never reach the fame levels of the champs of ten years ago.
I'm going to end up paying for BoxNation... purely to see fights and get some good weekly boxing coverage. I think it is a bit of a dick move from VVarren though. Charging £120 a year for a channel that still has a lot of problems broadcast-wise, doesn't even have HD and an amueterish set-up. For **** sake... All about the money, for definite. It's a bad move for an already struggling sport. I'm sure there will be a good few on here who join me in buying, but it isn't the way forward for boxing.
If burns - katsidis had been on sky sports we would have been treated to a lot less bouts - prob one or two undercard highlights and thats it. As it was we got to see a load of full undercard fights. I was happy with it TBH.
but it was telling you what page to go on the back page with a picture of burns and i think hugh keevins attended the fight to write his coloumn
doesn't matter whether it told us what page to go to, the piece itself was shocking, not even a full page Ricky deserved more than that.
you know yourself football rules, every other sport in scotland is a minority i thought the fact it made a bit of the backpage and that the chief sports writer was sent to the fight was progress
Keevins covers boxing, he's been ringside for all of Ricky's fight since the Martinez fight from what I remember, still think he deserved more of a write up.
keevins is a twat !im sure hes a rangers fan (joke) Jim black usually covers it and so does brian donald. but with the exception of Chris Roberts there isnae much going about the papers.I find when i do my Pr/Press releases the local newspapersh will pick ip the storys etc. Its ****
I think everyones exxageratting how unknown Burns is here in Scotland. I know a fair few who know him from the papers, they would probably know who Limond, McAllister, Appleby are as well. These are poeple who may have never seen them fight, purely from reading in the papers, its not much but like the lad on here was saying earlier, Football rules. Boxnation is making it even more of a niche sport, I think they need to grab someone like Khan to get major subsciber numbers and press coverage. I hope there promotion goes into overdri ve once it goes subscription....
