Right, now we've seen Ricky box at Lightweight and seen how he's taken to the weight, it's fair to say we can now see how he'd do against the following opponents.

We we're all going into the Katsidis fight a bit blind, not knowing how he's taken to the weight, with only the word of Billy Nelson for measure (even know the twat turned out to be right:lol:). But now we've seen him at the weight and perform at the weight, is now the right time to discuss how he'd fair with the better fighter's in the division (i'm not saying Kat's wasn't one of the better).

    Juan Manuel Marquez
    Brandon Rios
    Robert Guerrero
    Antonio DeMarco
    Jorge Linares
    Miguel Acosta
    Urbano Antillon
    Kevin Mitchell

    Discuss... :D

Oh come on FFS he beat a shot Katsidis, hes still not much cop. I like Burns but give this **** a rest.

Rios makes him look like a Mike Tyson date
Marquez makes him eat through a straw
Guerrero makes him look like Stephen hawkins
    Antillion jabs him to death
    Mitchell sells him dope

The rest you get the message.

  3. Mitchell would be the only man I'd favour him against to be honest.

Marquez vs Burns wouldn't be funny I'm afraid.

He's proven that he's more than capable though :good

Come on Barlow, i'm not saying Burns will beat them...

I'm saying now we've seen him perform at the weight and beat a fighter with a credible name, how does he stack up against the better fighter's in the division? Which is the obvious route he'll be heading towards.

Looking at that mottley crew, wouldn't be suprised if he went to 140

Im serious 3/4 of them would be suicide for him, ive really not got anything against him, to me he is VERY good at doing the basics.

I do feel he could beat Mitchell though on a serious note.

 tbh' mate i'm in the same boat as you...

But for the Burns fan's out there, i'm trying to be fair and since he beat Katsidis (shot, not shot, whatever he was), it's a big name so it catapults him up there, so i made this for the forum and Burn's fan's to discuss on...

Upto now he's not having a good time

I want to see him in the trenches for a round or two to see how he responds - no one domestically does that including mithchel. Kats never took him into troubled areas, but the likes of marquez and rios would.

He should at least start looking to fight the world class level opponents mentioned above to show us where he is really at

    Antonio DeMarco
    Jorge Linares
    Miguel Acosta
    Urbano Antillon
    Kevin Mitchell

These are all good, potentially winnable fights, but I'd only make him favourite over Mitchell

No way does Ricky Burns beat Kevin Mitchell.

I just think Kevin Mitchell is too fast, and i think! He has the power to TKO Burns.

Will be a good fight while it lasts!

I love the way a fighter loses and he's shot  , so now Katsidis is shot .............. , and Burns is still a domestic level fighter , well im not buying that , i am buying that Katsidis didnt look himself , but for me Burns tactical application and variety of shots looked excellent .

Of the worlds best LW's , i think he'll be lucky if he ever shares a ring with Marquez or Guerrero both heading up in weight it would appear

I dont rate De Marco at all , i think Ricky would walk through Mitchell , id give him a decent shot at beating Antillon too

Needless to say Guerrero is on a different level , Acosta matches him well stylistically and would box his ears off , im not fully convinced with Rios but id still have him stopping Burns , Soto would box his ears off but again looks to be going up , i think Murray would be a terrific fight but i like Murray in that fight too

In summary get Burns Mitchell made , if Kevin has screwed his head back on

Mitchell would be a good and realistic next fight for Ricky and I think he'd win that one quite handily. Of the top guys at lightweight, I'd love to see him take on Miguel Vasquez. Both men are very good technicians and are not afraid to go toe to toe so I'm sure it would be an action packed, very close fight.

    Yep.

Even as a massive Aguacerito fan I had to chuckle at a post or two in this thread, Miguel's done.
