It's a Train Driver job I would be going to I got the $75k figure from a guy in work who said his mate worked in Oz as a Train Driver ? I haven't been given a wage figure from QR yet they will tell me in my final interview next week I imagine ! Been looking on the web and have been seeing all sorts of figures for Train Driver salaries ! Over here in Swansea I earn £50k-£55k a year with OT as a Train Driver and that is a REALLY good wage for Swansea ! Just not sure if Train Drivers earn alot in Oz but as I said I will find out next week. As for the murders I didn't read the whole thing but I think things like that happen everywhere unfortunately and it was nearly 20 yrs ago !
dont worry, you'll probably only see a snake once a year. maybe even less than that. over here in the east, the cane toads have em ****ed. bless their poisened froggy hearts. im sure you'll love the heat and flies, your kids will get picked on by the local bullies for being pasty faced, white, poms. your missus will get more than her fair share of attention from the sex starved miners in the area while you are away......but hey, the fishins great! you'll manage ok with the flies, mossies and midgies.....you'll just end up looking like a pom with pink spots. not too unusual. plenty of pom tourists here. dont forget your warm clothes. it gets cold at night......
I thought a Pom was an Englishman and Australian ? As for heat and sun I go a lovely brown colour mate ! And heat doesn't bother me aslong as its not high humidity ! And I can't c anyone bullying my kids
Had my interview last Friday with QR National they said with OT etc it will be approx $85,000 a year ! My wife will also get a job after we find our feet she works in Customer Service ( Has managerial experience ) ! So will I be struggling on that ? As I said I will have a bit of wedge to come over with and when I sell my house in the UK in a few years ( renting out to sister in-law if I make move ) I should have approx £30,000 lumper as well ! Find out if I got job at end of November :good
Anything under $100k AUS to relocate my whole family across the other side of the world is not enough. If it was a major city like Sydney i'd say $150k and Melb and Brisbane $130k
mate to be honest 75k isnt a whole lot of money over in WA... that place costs a fortune to live in... or maybe thats just Perth

I reckon this is the best advice you could take. You sound like you've got some smarts so it won't take you long to figure things out once you get here. Big $ to be made in the West, and you're qualifications won't hurt you one bit. Good luck.
But who the **** wants to live in the West?? Have had a number of mates move there from Sydney, but came back after 12 months. If you don't follow AFL then there's **** all to do there.
